RealismRealism advert is a representation of real life, it follows a normal day to day narrative. Making the audience be able to relate more. The positives for this kind of advert are it is easy to make due to the props, set, costume, editing and special effects being simple, however, this simplicity might make the advert boring for the audience.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beJzxaYzUqkThis advert is selling Maltesers. In the advert two friends are chatting, one eating Maltesers whilst they other is putting washing on. Although this is like normal life through it being set in a home and what they are doing. To make it more engaging they add humour. By the friend swapping the jeans in the wash with a Barbie doll’s jean making the friend think they shrunk.

Anti- realismAnti-realism is when a concept of idea is clearly unreal and made up. Due to the situation being nothing like normal day to day life. These kind of adverts are normally quite memorable because humour is usually used. Also with these adverts when creating it you have a lot of freedom with what you want. So when the audience watch it, it becomes an escapism from reality. However, with this freedom for the idea people might not understand the link between the idea of the advert and the product confusing them.An example of this is the advert for the mobile line Three. In the advert you see a pony dancing to Fleetwood Mac’s, Everywhere. The pony in it is doing the moonwalk and moving to the beat making it funny as this is not something you see everyday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ekr05T9Iaio

AnimationAnimation adverts uses a range of techniques such as 2D images and CGI. Animated images are often used in television advertising so that more interesting or scenes that would be impossible in real life.Although the technology makes it look more professional it is expensive to create. In addition with this method it can make it more iconic and memorable, however, the process to create it is long.An example of this is the Guinness advert. In this you see the evolution of man happen and the transformation of the world. Special effects are used showing the change of the appearance on the world as you see the building disappear and see what it used to look like. Furthermore, you see the three men that where in the pub drinking change to caveman into apes then rats and further different animals. At the end you see three lizards drinking out of the river and from their facial expressions you can see it is not nice. Linking to the tagline good things happen to them who wait. Letting you see the correlation with the idea and product. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAwkCznJjAY

Documentary styleDocumentary style uses real people, someone who uses the product, works there, an expert or celebrity. It also may use locations that relate to product such as toothpaste advert might be filmed in a dentist room. Include facts and interview style presentation to camera. It makes it seem professional and the product seem trustworthy and reliable. An example of this is dogs trust advert. In the advert you see the dogs that it has helped and hear voice over as if it was coming from the dog. Giving you important information about what dogs trust about and who they help. Also the location used is a dogs trust centre.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqIh3oeo5j4

SeriesA series advert includes a progressive storyline that progresses over a period of time through the number of adverts. It usually includes a main character and additional characters. Make the audience engaged as they are hooked and want to see the progression of the storyline. Making them iconic and memorable. An example of this is Compare the market. As the concept is based around Meerkats and the confusion between compare the market and compare the meerkats. The series progress as they get a baby meerkat and you see them on outings.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2kXYfJ72ZE

Talking headsTalking heads is when they tend to have people directly addressing the viewer at home by talking about the product to the camera. Normally in a positive light. This is effective as people will feel like they are getting different people opinion on the product or company making the decision easier if they want to buy it.An example of this is the Lidil advert as in this a variety of people are talking positively about the products they got from there.
