Thanks to the Humboldt Middle School Students

The Humboldt Middle School classes held a contest to see who could collect the most cans to help raise funds for ACARF. The sixth grade

class won, and ACARF was invited to come talk with them about the shelter. Robyn Porter and Tucker (who is reported in this issue as Adopted), showed a movie of some of the dogs and cats that have been adopted since the shelter opened, and spoke with them about ACARF. Thanks for thinking of the ani-mals!

It was Love At First

Sight

Larry Macha recently delivered Puss to his new owner in Kansas City. He had been adopted from the ACARF website. Larry described it as an “amazing experience”. Once the cat was released from the carrier into his new owner’s arms, he immediately wrapped both paws around her arm and gave her a hug, then began nuz-zling her neck. Puss has found his place.

Chloe New ball caps are available to accessorize the racing t-shirts! Cost: a mere $10 do-nation...

Jerry Tindel has been hired as a part-time em-ployee. His primary respon-sibility is to care for the cats.

Welcome!

Front Office

Conference Room

Thanks to Julie Payne, the look and convenience of the front office and the con-ference room has greatly improved! New cabinets and countertops have added a lot of work and storage space. Wonderful!

Great News! The shelter has re-ceived a $500 grant from the Humane Soci-ety of the United States to help defray the cost of the window installation in the cat room.

Way to Go!

Whisper

Andi visited Head Start last week to present on pet care and safety. She took two dogs with her. The kids are drawing and coloring pictures of them-selves with their pets (or of the pet they would like to have). It is hoped the pic-tures will be displayed at the shelter.

How about those women from the ACC volleyball team? They come out every Wednesday afternoon and not only walk but run the dogs! Thank you—you’re doing something that’s badly needed!

And thanks to our lawn guys; Larry and Bud keep things looking neat at the shelter with mowing and trimming.

We appreciate you!

Calling all The next fundraising event is sched-uled for April 28—an auction near Bronson. It will be a fairly large sale, and because there is a lot of farm equipment, will be attended by more men than usual.

What do they want?

Pie.

Can you help? Will need on Friday, April 27

Please call Ginny Hawk—365-5311

Payment remains the same— Many dog licks and cat kisses!

Check out the new lighted display that was given to us by a generous donor. And look at the great gift ideas for Mother’s Day! There’s Precious Moments, Fenton, Lladro, Home Interiors, and several pieces of crystal as well as a Carlson doll (Comanche Princess 12-22).

Light Fixtures

The milk glass fixture is old; the four crystal fixtures are like new.

This lady is perfectly stun-ning, and it’s quite surprising she is not yet gracing some-one’s home. She’s an original Clay Art mask called “Luminous”, and is dressed in shades of purple/lavender. This is truly a unique piece of art with no discernible flaws.

Pet of the Week Beth

If happiness is a warm puppy, get ready to be very happy! This is Beth, a sweet and cuddly little Pointer mix female. Beautiful Beth is one of nine pups born to a wonderful Pointer mix named Pene-lope, shortly after Penelope arrived at the shelter. Beth is a de-lightful roly-poly girl who will steal your heart after only a few minutes of puppy antics. It’s spring, which is a lovely time to bring a new life into your home. Come and meet Beth soon.
