The Guilford County Schools requires that all parents/guardians be informed at regular
intervals on the academic progress of their children. Grades are a reflection of the
student's progress in meeting the state and local requirements.
High School Grade Calculations
High schools and middle schools with students taking high school courses are to
use the following guidelines to calculate final grades for students.
Course Grade Calculations – Beginning 2010-2011
Block Courses (EOC, AP, IB, NC Final Exams, VOCAT, and All Other Courses)
Term Weight
1st Quarter 40% of final grade
2nd Quarter 40% of final grade
Final Exam 20% of final grade
Final Grade 100%
Year Long Courses (EOC, AP, IB, NC Final Exams, VOCAT, and All Other Courses)
Term Weight
1st Quarter 20% of final grade
2nd Quarter 20% of final grade
1st Semester Grade 40% of final grade
3rd Quarter 20% of final grade
