One of the most famous buildings in Washington D.C. is the White House. The White House is the official residence and principal workplace of the President of the United States, located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C. It has been the residence of every U.S. president since John Adams in 1800.

The White House was designed by Irish-born James Hoban and built between 1792 and 1800 of white-painted Aquia Creek sandstone in the Neoclassical style.

The White House is a very large white building. It has 132 rooms, 32 bathrooms, and 6 levels to accommodate all the people who live in, work in, and visit the White House. There are also 412 doors, 147 windows, 28 fireplaces, 7 staircases, and 3 elevators. There is American flag in the roof of the White House.

The main building has large central porches. The porches have tall columns. Large lawns and gardens surround the White House.

On the White House lawn there is a large fountain. The fountain was to beautify the White House, and it looks luxurious.

The White House Complex is protected by the United States Secret Service and United States Park Police.
