Studentsshared their research on the projectsforum and created a PowerPointpresentation based off the informationdone by the other school.

Welcome!The Delaware Center for Educational Technology takes great pleasure inhosting An Evening of Instructional Technology held in conjunction with the15th Annual Delaware Instructional Technology Conference.

Showcase of Excellence in Instructional TechnologyThe Showcase of Excellence in Instructional Technology recognizes andhonors an exemplary teacher from each district and charter school whoportrays excellence in instructional technology. These teachers havedemonstrated excellence in instructional technology by:

utilizing technology for personal productivity; understanding standards-based education; actively engaging students in the use of technology on a routinebasis with emphasis on student action and on issues resolutionthat require higher levels of student cognitive processing and in-depth examination of the content; and designing instruction such that students perceive and utilizetechnology (e.g., multimedia, telecommunications, databases,spreadsheets, word processing) as a tool to solve authenticproblems.

The DCET is delighted to recognize these teachers for their dedication totheir students and to their profession. We would also like to welcometheir students who have diligently worked with their teachers by strivingfor academic excellence.

International GalaThe International Gala features the work of teachers and theirstudents who are participating in the International EducationTechnology professional development cluster and working oninternational projects through iEARN (International Education andResource Network). iEARN is a non-profit global network thatenables young people to use the Internet and other new technologiesto engage in collaborative educational projects that both enhancelearning and make a difference in the world. The goals of the International Education Technology cluster are: (1)Support teachers’ development of international knowledge, expertise,and initiatives; and (2) Enable teachers to acquire the skills to useeducational technology in learning and as an instructional andmanagement tool. The participating teachers and their students will be available todiscuss their projects, share their classroom work, and share thecorners of the world that they have visited.

Established in 1997, First State Strings is lower

Delaware’s Premiere Youth String Orchestra. Under the

direction of the esteemed Mr. Eliezer Gutman, 19

students from New Castle and Kent Counties and

Eastern Shore Maryland attending public, private,

charter and home schools, meet once a week to rehearse

music for concerts and community performances.

Past performances include The Mayor's Prayer

Breakfast, NASCAR opening ceremonies, and the In

Harmony series at the Schwartz Center and Old Dover

Days. First State Strings is part of First State Strings, Inc.,

which also includes lower Delaware’s beginning string

ensemble, Little Strings. New members are always

welcome.

Studentsalso use digital cameras to createPower Point documentaries aboutschool and other projects to share withtheir partners.

Inaddition, Mr. Lettieri maintains aWebsite that he uses to teach andsupport his classes.

Thefinal product included a presentation,Website, business documents, budget,projected income over a three yearperiod, and a magazine cover for eachteam member where that teammember was in a featured article.
