Page 3: Defensive driving

Page 4: Defensive driving

Is there really a point to defensive driving or is it something that we just put up with

because we are told to?

Page 5: Defensive driving

In this article we will discuss the different benefits and effects to society due to

defensive driving.

Page 6: Defensive driving

Defensive driving is a course that many drivers take every day to polish their skills as

a safe driver.

Page 7: Defensive driving

A defensive driving course is also used whenever a speeding ticket is involved as one of the means to remedy the situation.

Page 8: Defensive driving

In a course such as this many factors are taken into consideration and the course instructor goes over in detail each of the

factors.

Page 9: Defensive driving

These factors include traffic crashes which opens the eyes of many drivers, so that they can be more aware of their surroundings to

prevent being a number in the statistic.

Page 10: Defensive driving

The next factor is psychological factors.

Page 11: Defensive driving

The psychological factors that are taken into consideration are the different emotions

that drivers can feel during driving.

Page 12: Defensive driving

This is especially true when a driver is feeling a negative emotion such as anger, and how

that can affect a driver and how they operate their vehicle.

Page 13: Defensive driving

By being aware of how our emotions can affect our judgment in driving people can be more able to keep these emotions in check

while driving.

Page 14: Defensive driving

The third factor that is talked about during the course is human factors.

Page 15: Defensive driving

This factor can be the most dangerous of factors when driving.

Page 16: Defensive driving

For example, if a driver is distracted by their passengers they can miss a turn which may cause them to speed in order to recover the

time needed to take a new exit to get to their destination.

Page 17: Defensive driving

Another harmful effect of this factor is drivers when they are drinking and driving.

Page 18: Defensive driving

These effects can make drivers very dangerous.

Page 19: Defensive driving

Factor number four is crash prevention techniques.

Page 20: Defensive driving

These techniques include observing the roadway, sharing the road, vehicle

emergencies, right of way, vehicle stopping distance, and other techniques for

prevention a crash.

Page 21: Defensive driving

With the exception of having a ticket dropped there are more benefits to taking a

defensive driving course.

Page 22: Defensive driving

These benefits include additional knowledge, and a possible insurance discount.

Page 23: Defensive driving

With the additional knowledge drivers can avoid future tickets and other harmful

effects of driving.

The possible insurance discount can be very beneficial especially if you are a young driver

or have teenagers.
