WOOD COMPOSITES Type: Hard MaterialElements: MDF and WPC
MEDIUM DENSITY FIBREBOARD (MDF)
An engineered wood-based sheet material made by bonding together wood fibres with a synthetic resin adhesive.
FABRICATION Laser Cut Panels are manufactured by laser cutting either manually or
through machines. The textured 3D panels are computer designed so that carved & sculpted
designs flow seamlessly from one panel to the next.
MARKET FORMMDF is available in three main types:
1. Plain wood boards.2. Laser cut jalis.
3. Textured 3D wall panels.Wood sheets in a variety of widths and lengths. Standard sizes
include 8’x6’, 8’x4’, 7’x6’, 7’x4’ and 6’x4’.MDF is available in a wide range of thickness based upon its application. The standard thicknesses are 4mm, 6mm, 8mm,
10mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm, 25mm, 30mm and 35mm.

INSTALLATION MDF panels are preferably glued rather than nailed unto the surface. The surface for application is cleaned of dust and treatment against
moisture is carried on. Thereafter, the MDF panel is applied with a layer of glue (araldite or strong fevi-bond) and is adhered upon the surface. MDF can be permanently fixed by nailing or screwing. Bullet head
nails can be punched below the surface of MDF where a painted finish is required.
Finishes can be applied thereafter. In most cases, MDF panels have a finished surface right from the store.
In case MDF is applied to windows, or doors, the MDF panel is sandwiched between two glass panels.
TREATMENTSMDF can be manufactured with fungicide additives or have a brush
on post treatment preservative to protect against surface moulds under damp conditions.
Surface treatments can be used to protect against water and dirt, however it is important to check with each manufacturer as to the
suitability and/or recommended products.Paint can also be considered a surface protection.
Any cracks and holes in the panel is filled with putty containing dico.

SCULPTURING
DEFECTS IN MDF LED TO THE INVENTION OF A NEW
MATERIAL CALLED WPC.
REASONS FOR INVENTION OF WPC
MDFMDF does NOT tolerate water well. Water begins to degrade MDF into fine particles and hence only used in interiors.
When MDF is cut, sanded, shaped or machined in any way, it releases clouds of dust particles coated with formaldehyde. The particles, much smaller than those emitted by most other commonly used woods, can be inhaled deep into the lungs. formaldehyde is a recognised carcinogen.
WPC WPC panels were fabricated to resist moisture and weathering due to water contact. Also it was made termite and pest proof and fire retardant.
Ligno-cellulosic and/or inorganic filler materials for adhesion and thus are part of natural fiber plastic composites. Thus they are environment friendly, non-toxic and not a health hazard.
WOOD PLASTIC COMPOSITE
Composite materials made of wood fiber/wood flour and thermoplastics (includes PE, PP, PVC etc.)Chemical additives seem practically "invisible" (except mineral fillers and pigments, if added) in the composite structure.

MATERIAL OF FUTURE Industrial logging of the world’s primary forests is rapidly destroying the
habitats of thousands of animal and plant species, and depleting our planet of its oxygen reserves. We need to call a halt to the destructive exploitation of hardwoods responsible for this widespread deforestation. Solutions to the
problem do exist. WOOD POLYMER COMPOSITE
This new material had the appearance and qualities of the rarest species of wood while offering a truly eco-friendly alternative, and met with instant success. The extremely demanding Indian market was won over by the
quality and exceptional lifespan of this product, which followed the tradition of, respect for, and love of, nature. Wood Plastic Composite material is widely available today in India ,where it holds a Major market share in
architectural landscaping in the public and private construction sectors.
