Our aim

do$h aims to improve the

financial confidence and capability of social housing

tenants in Ealing and neighbouring

west London boroughs.

Who - the programme is for social housing tenants

What – tenants are offered mentoring with debt and money-management advice that will help them cope with their finances

Why – the roll-out of Universal Credit and changes to welfare benefits are key drivers for the do$h programme

How – do$h is funded by the Big Lottery; the project started in March 2013 and will end in March 2016

What have we done so far?

The support provided by the local community and voluntary sector, do$h mentors and community solicitors has helped 140 social housing tenants to address money and debt problems.

They have done this through several ways (click on each image on the right to find out how):

Telephone surveys to understand tenants’ needs.Helping tenants:

• With income and expenditure

• To understand and manage debt

• To set up bank accounts.

Referring tenants to:

• Employment and training schemes

• Food banks

• Specialist benefits advice support

• The Money Advice Service and other online tools.

Who are we?do$h is managed through a steering group chaired by Catalyst Gateway. Key partners include: -• London Borough of Ealing• A2Dominion Housing Group• GOYA (Golden Opportunity Youth Association)• Open Ealing • Ealing Community Voluntary Service • Robinson Wilson Solicitors

The project is managed by Wendy Sweeney (Financial Inclusion Programme Manager) Catalyst Gateway.

A team of six experienced do$h Mentors and Champions are currently delivering the project across Ealing.

How do$h can help

1-2-1 support provided by paid do$h mentors. Six highly experienced do$h mentors providing 1-2-1 support in budget management, reducing debt and referrals to specialist agencies that can help.

1-2-1 support provided by community based solicitors. A team of three community solicitors from Robinson Wilson, providing support and guidance on complex debt and benefit issues. The team have helped tenants secure benefits and reduce debt to the tune of £100,000+ so far.

do$h Plays for community groups.Falling and The Debt Monster: Two short plays about debt, produced by Open Ealing Performing Arts Group, targeting community groups, tenants and staff.

How can you get involved

Make a referral – we will send you a referral form to complete.

Spread the word – talk, to friends, family, colleagues, partners who may be interested.

Talk to tenants – those tenants you are in contact with and make a referral to a do$h mentor or to one of our drop-in locations.

Other boroughs – we can work with boroughs next door to Ealing so, if you think do$h may be able to help, simply call us on 020 8832 3186.More support – let us know about any other existing support, funding and projects that may benefit the do$h project.
