SecoBloc OEM modules are designed and manufactured with advanced technology and have been comprehensively and successfully type-tested.

Designed specifically for use by OEM switchgear manufacturers building IEC designs, SecoBloc OEM modules offer greater configuration flexibility than traditional full height sections.

SecoBloc modules are rated for 3.3kV - 17.5kV applications, 630A - 3150A and up to 40kA short circuit rating. They are designed to house GE’s SecoVac embedded pole vacuum circuit breakers.

IEC SecoBloc modules include two different versions. The SecoBloc BV is a complete module that includes the apparatus and lower compartment. The SecoBloc BC module offers an apparatus compartment.

Built to the highest quality standards SecoBloc is designed and fully tested to 2014 IEC standards. It utilizes GE’s latest SecoVac vacuum circuit breaker, third-party tested in accordance with IEC 62271-100. Manufactured in accordance with high quality standards, GE engineers have integrated core technologies. Circuit breaker and mechanism design, vacuum arc control technology, insulation technology and electrical field control and analysis combine to create a highly reliable and compact system. SecoBloc reflects GE’s best MV switchgear design practices.

Construction type and IP rating SecoBloc Type BC/BV is designed and constructed to meet the requirements IEC 62271-200 for Indoor installations. SecoBloc offers IP43 protection from penetration of solid objects and liquids on the front side with its door closed.

Earthing SwitchThe SecoBloc earthing switch can be closed under short-circuit up to 40kA. The earthing switch isolators are provided with a capacitive voltage sensor for connection with the voltage presence indication system.

SecoVac MechanismThe SecoVac circuit breaker utilizes a compact, spring charged operating mechanism. The open and close mecha-nisms are combined into a single, small and easily replaceable module.

Automatic ShuttersThe SecoBloc OEM blocs are equipped with grounded metal shutters in front of the primary bushings. The shutters are automatically operated by the circuit breaker movement. When the circuit breaker is racked out to the test or disconnect positions, the shutters automatically close to isolate the fixed primary contacts. As an option, shutters are available with a safety interlock, which in the absence of a withdrawable apparatus, will prevent manual activation.

Marine ApplicationSecoBloc has been tested for Marine applications according to the IEC 60068-2-6 and IEC 60092-504.

Inclination Test– Determines that SecoBloc can continue operating as intended, even when inclined at an angle up to 25 degrees on all four sides.

Vibration Test - The operating conditions on marine platforms and shipping installations require the capability to work in environments

affected by vibrations. SecoBloc was exposed to a resonance search and endurance random, which consists of a random vibration test according to IACS E10.

Vibration Sweep Test:• From 2 to 13.2 Hz displacement

1.0 (peak value)

• From 13.2 to 100 Hz acceleration amplitude of 0.7 g

• Vibration Endurance Test - 90 minutes

The exposure to these severe service conditions confirms the suitability of SecoBloc to unstable marine conditions. The SecoBloc Marine version includes a handrail in the breaker compartment door as well as doorstoppers.

Technical CharacteristicsInterlocking SystemsSecoBloc is designed with a number of interlocking systems to help prevent mis-operation:

• The circuit breaker can only be moved from test to connect position and vice versa when the circuit breaker is in the Open position

• The earthing switch cannot be closed when the circuit breaker is in the connect position or in the traveling position between test and connect

• For BV modules, the cable compartment door can only be opened when the earthing switch is closed

• For BV modules, the earthing switch can be opened only when the cable compartment door is closed

• The secondary plug can only be inserted or removed when the circuit breaker is in the test position

• The circuit breaker cannot be closed when it is in-between the connected, test or disconnect positions

• When the circuit breaker is moved from the connect position, the metal shutters will close automatically

• The circuit breaker can only be racked-in when the Apparatus Compartment door is closed

• The Apparatus Compartment door can only be open when the circuit breaker is in test position

Technical CharacteristicsStorage conditionsIn order to retain all of the functional unit’s qualities when stored for prolonged periods, we recommend that the equip-ment is stored in its original packaging, in dry conditions sheltered from the sun and rain between –15°C and + 40°C.

Scope of Supply - Optional Supply DetailsEarthing SwitchOptional supply allows earthing the elements connected to the earthing switch lugs. It is typically used to earth incoming/outgoing power cables. When earthing switch is provided additional elements may also be provided:

• Mechanical interlock that prevents the SecoVac breaker to be racked-in from test to service position with the earthing switch closed, and prevents closing the earthing switch with the SecoVac breaker in service or any intermediate position, can be complemented with an optional supply redundant electrical interlock for the same purpose.

• On BV modules, earthing switch can be provided with a motor that allows opening and closing remotely.

• Voltage sensor is always provided together with the earthing switch and allows the customer to detect the presence of voltage of the elements electrically connected to the earthing switch lugs. Voltage sensor requires a voltage indicator display.

Emergency Pushbutton• Provides a mechanical trip of the circuit breaker with the SecoBloc module

apparatus door closed. It is typically used to open the breaker in case of loss of auxiliary voltage.

Marine Options• Handrails and door stoppers: Located in the apparatus compartment door

and door stoppers for the SecoBloc BC or BV module

• IP43 Cover: Metallic cover for the ESW operating aperture. The front side of the SecoBloc module achieves Ingress Protection Degree IP43.

Voltage TransformersSecondary windings, connection, accuracy class can be configured from multiple options

Mechanical InterlocksOptional safety interlocks for increased operational safety:

• Shutter Interlock: Prevents manual activation of the shutters, which will be only activated by the apparatus truck.

Key InterlocksKey interlocks provide the capability to have operation logic between multiple SecoBloc modules or upstream/downstream elements of the system. Available selections include Castell, Fortress and Ronis commercial brands.

• ESW Key Interlock: Up to two locks are available for the earthing switch. Either one or both of the two locks can be configured, providing multiple possible combinations for the condition of the key, trapped or released, when the ESW is in open position.

• VCB Key Interlock: Up to two locks are available for the VCB condition. Either one or both of the two locks can be configured, providing multiple possible combinations for the condition of the key, trapped or released, when the VCB is in test position.

Voltage Transformer TruckThe withdrawable trucks also allow fuse replacement with the switchboard in service. Truck racking out with the door closed automatically operates closure of a metallic segregation shutter between the live parts of the switchgear and the instrument compartment.

Disconnect TruckDisconnect truck is used to disconnect primary circuit and normally coupling with bus bar tie breaker to achieve two section power supply. Disconnect truck can be provided with bus tie/ riser panels.

Earthing SwitchThe earthing switch can be operated from the front of the module. It is mechanically interlocked with the circuit breaker truck so that the earthing switch can only be operated when the circuit breaker is open in the test/disconnect position. The switch is also mechanically interlocked with the cable compartment door for additional safety.

Ground Fault Sensing CTThe ground fault sensing CT is insulated in resin and is used to supply measure-ment and protection devices. These CTs can be furnished in either a solid or split core design. They can be used either for measuring phase currents or for detecting the ground fault current. They conform to the IEC 60044-1 Standards.
