dark matter and dark energy
DESCRIPTION

It is about 20-25% of the total amount of matter in the universe
You cannot see the actual matter, although its effects are visible
It does not give off energy rays, so it is difficult to detect
Scientists know more about what dark matter is not, rather than what it actually is
It is about 70-99% of all energy in the universe
It does not posses qualities of “normal” energy (protons, neutrons, electrons)
It cannot be seen It is thought to be the force that is
causing the universe to expand Scientists know more about what
characteristics dark energy doesn’t have, instead of what is actually has
The pie chart on the previous slide shows the amount of dark matter and dark energy in the universe, although it might be inaccurate because it combines matter and energy into the same chart
Scientist had observed different areas in universe and noticed that there was an invisible force, that was doing strange things, without an explanation
They concluded that is must be a new type of matter and energy, which they latter called dark matter and dark energy
