TF Attack,

FOB Sharana

As always, if you ever

need help with anything

from information to sup-

port, please don’t hesitate to

ask Tanja or myself.

Sincerely,

CPT R. Kelly

Dark Horse 6

Greetings from Sharana!

Dark Horse Assumes Combat Mission

To the Families and Friends

of Dark Horse,

Greetings from lovely

FOB Sharana. After a tiring

journey from Fort Hood, we

are finally settled into our

final destination(s). Each

month, we will publish a

newsletter complete with

plenty of pictures of your

Soldiers as they work hard,

play, try to relax, and do

pretty much whatever.

As many of you heard

from your Soldiers, the jour-

ney here was full of last-

minute changes and I was

impressed by how the Team

responded, remaining flexi-

ble and keeping a positive

attitude. Many that remem-

ber our last deployment

were actually wishing they

were in Kuwait! We were

all thankful to see FOB Sha-

rana, find our tents, and

start making our “nests.”

Thanks to TF Gambler,

our living conditions are

better than expected and

continue to get better as our

Soldiers work

hard to improve

our footprint.

Mail has started

to arrive, which

always brings

smiles to the

formation.

On a final

note, we have

begun work on a

company Face-

book page. This

page will be ex-

clusive to Dark

Horse Soldiers

past and present

and their Fami-

lies and will provide a me-

dium for official information.

I hope to have it fully func-

tional by the next newslet-

ter. Internet access is lim-

ited here at times, so it

might take a little longer.

Always verify the source

when you think you hear

“official” information and

know that this information

will always come through

the FRSA/FRG or command

channels.

putting the Dark Horse

touch everywhere we are.

TF Attack is a well-tuned

machine and Dark Horse is

the fuel that drives it.

Working quietly behind the

scenes, few realize the tre-

mendous amount of work

we do to support the main

effort. Never expecting

recognition for what they

do, our Soldiers set the ex-

ample every day and keep

this machine moving.

After completing our

relief in place, or RIP, where

we learned how Task Force

Gambler has conducted

business for the past year,

Dark Horse and TF Attack

are now in the driver’s seat

for combat operations.

With Soldiers at Sha-

rana, Orgun-E, and Kusha-

mand, Dark Horse provides

critical support to aviation

assets from all over the east-

ern region of Afghanistan.

By the way, we’re doing the

same job with nearly half the

people. Without our Sol-

diers efforts, our ground

forces would be without the

much needed support that

these aviation assets pro-

vide.

Thanks goes to TF Gam-

bler for making the condi-

tions here better than many

places in country. We are

also beginning to make im-

provements of our own,

Happy Birthday!
