Daniel Hope has fused his passions for film and music. He was granted complete access to the Paramount archives both for researching and filming his new book and documentary. Hope found original film score manuscripts by Korngold, Rozsa, Heymann, Jurmann, and many others. This project resurrects some of the music from one of Hollywood’s greatest eras. Daniel’s new disc, Escape to Paradise, will be released on Deutsche Grammophon in the near future.

Of Hope’s live performance of the Korngold Violin Concerto with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Thomas Søndergård, the Guardian (UK) wrote, “Hope’s tone was darkly resonant, his playing as virtuosic as that of Jascha Heifetz. The depth he invested in the music was striking, demanding that it be treated seriously as absolute music, albeit passionately romantic, and taking away the schmaltzy air that sometimes surrounds it. Hope’s integrity in these matters puts him in a league of his own.”
