About the Project:
Demolition of warehouse structure following acatastrophic fire at a tyre recycling centre
in Croydon.
Our first objective here was to assist the London FireBrigade access the fire which continued to blazeunder the collapsed roof structure.
Once the fire was extinguished, the resultant contaminated debris and waste was cleared from site before the remaining structures were then demolished and the site cleared for the re-construction phase.
Project Challenges:
Operating plant to remove structures during the London Fire Brigade (LFB) operation to extinguish the flames and smouldering debris was challenging.
Power intakes had to be considered live throughout the operation. Heavy smoke and contaminated residues from tyres had to be managed with the correct selection of appropriate PPE and RPE.
Close coordination with the LFB Controlling Officer to ensure safe coordination was communicated between both teams to accurately deliver this challenging project.
