Cross Country Travel Corps – Boca Raton, FL 2003-2010Travel RN - ICU During her eight years as a travel nurse, Dana worked mostly in Surgical ICU atmospheres at Level 1 Trauma Centers, occasionally floating to a Medical ICU or an ICU position. Specific facilities where Dana was employed and helped her become a well-rounded RN were: Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, The University of North Carolina Medical Center in Chapel Hill, Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vermont, The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, and Oschner Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dana was exposed to a larger trauma patient population at these facilities in addition to: s/p CABG, s/p liver, kidney, and kidney/pancreas transplants, s/p full and split thickness skin grafts. She was also responsible for Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) for patients in the ICU. Dana encountered many patients during her time as a travel nurse who she had never come across before and feels it was these experiences that helped her become a proficient and accomplished ICU nurse.

Grant/Riverside Methodist Hospital – Columbus, Ohio 1999-2002Staff Nurse - ICUDuring her time in this position, Dana worked in the Surgical Trauma Intermediate Care Unit (STICU) before transitioning into the ICU. Dana feels this position allowed her to gain extensive knowledge and experience as an ICU nurse, ultimately preparing her to become an ICU travel nurse. The ICU area of this hospital encompassed a Surgical ICU, Medical ICU, Neuro ICU and CVICU. Dana cared for patients with multiple system involvement/trauma who needed simultaneous treatment from numerous medical specialties. In addition to daily care, this position required meticulous documentation of each patient as well as family education and progress updates. Because of the crisis nature of patients that Dana saw during her employment here, she was able to attain intensive and valuable nursing experience.
