Current and previous research
In the years 2001-2003 I conducted research both on ideas of urban development and social architecture in
Poland. Main aim of this research was finding possibilities for development of new model of modern social
architecture in Poland, which had become unpopular after economical changes in the late 90th. After
analysis of chosen examples of social architecture from inter-war period, described in two articles, I found
that in contemporary model of life style in Poland there is only place for private residential building of
different kind. In future, new model of social architecture will be necessary, especially, for young and
independent couples, what depends both on economical and psychological factors. Taking into
consideration both social and economical factors, I made research on real estate market in Poland. The aim
of the research was to recognize main factors influencing very changeable situation on this market in
Poland. Creating new rudiments of real estate market segmentation together with Prof. E. Stachura, I
started to include to my research, in more wide way, also legal and political factors. The effect ot the
research, described in articles, was based on finding relations between different determinants which were
continuously influencing development of Polish real estate market both in positive and negative way.
Improving my knowledge in the field of market, and especially economical conditions, I started with research
on relation between shopping malls and their surroundings. For this, I created theoretical models of
shopping malls. Analyzing their flexible interiors it was possible to find relation between them and their
neighbourhood, and to predict possible impact of these shopping malls on their surroundings. The effect of
the research was a base of my doctorate, which I published few years later. Making research on the urban
space, I took into account also quality of the space in terms of both advanced, and basical human needs.
The result the theoretical and practical research based in the beginning on meaning of green terrains in the
cities, described in an article, was finding new possibilities for improvement of the quality of urban space
thanks to new models of green areas, including green walls. The next step of qualititive research was
focused on meaning of the cultural conditions in urban landscape, in the past and nowadays. For this
research I took into consideration, above all, historical Jewish architecture and urbanism of Casimir in
Cracow in terms of relation between both tangible and intangible conditions, influencing development of
urban space. The results of the research are presented in few chapters and articles, and also will be
published in scientific monography. Chosen results of researches together with practical expericence were
included into my student courses and described in two textbooks.
Future research
2
In future I’m planning to establish an international and interdisciplinary team conducting research on urban
space. The main aim of the work will be improvement of quality of humans life in the cities together with
preserving widely understood resilience in terms of unexpected influence of exterior and interior conditions.
On the base of understanding the historical and contemporary processes taking a place in urban space it is
possible to predict future events and to prevent them, or to use for proper purposes.
