Neutron Production - PhototheMonte Carlo Simulations of :Thesis Title

and Related Shielding at a Medical Linear Accelerator

Synopsis of the Thesis: In X-radiotherapy accelerator, neutrons are

produced mainly by (γ, n) reaction when high energy X-rays interact with

high Z materials of linear accelerator head. These unwanted neutrons

contaminate the therapeutic beam and contribute to the patient dose during

the treatment of a cancer patient. Knowing the neutron distribution around

the radiotherapy accelerator is therefore desired. This study is concerned

with the measurement of photoneutron contamination emitted from

ELEKTA medical linear accelerator operating at 15 MV at King Hussein

Cancer Center (KHCC); with the Monte Carlo code Geant4.
