Other work experience Powis Castle: house/visitor services (22nd June- 18th August 2013) I worked in an office

environment and in the castle interacting with the public. I would open the castle in the morning ready for the visitors and then close it at the end of the day. I would also take the light readings twice a day to adjust the light levels in the rooms accordingly with blinds. When in the office I would make photocopies, laminates, update volunteer records; send out reference requests and other errands that needed doing in the office environment.

Bar staff in Indian restaurant -March 2012. Bar staff in local pub -November 2011. Bar work for animal charity events held though out the year. Chirk Castle: garden and house (13th-17th June 2011) I talked to the public and shadowed a

room guide for two days. I also spent three days in the gardens helping with work such as sowing seeds, replanting and weeding.

Derwen College Art Department (6th -10th July 2009) I helped the students in their lessons with painting, writing reports and taking photos. I also helped with felt making (using netting, warm water and soap) with the designs the students had made earlier from wool.

Talyllyn Preservation Railway - Volunteer with “Tracksider’s”. We repair broken fences, renew steps, clear out blocked streams to keep the environment around the train scenic and tidy.

Volunteer at multiple church fundraising events though out the year- waitress/bar staff. Bag packing at Morrison’s to raise money for Girl Guides (2009). Paper round- November 2007-September 2009.

Skills Organisation and meeting deadlines- management of academic studies. On time- High school/6th Form/University attendance. Girl Guide Patrol Leader (2008-2010) planning what badges to work towards. Fully competent with Microsoft office and emails. Participation/following instructions in lab work for 1st, 2nd and 3rd year university modules. Communication skills improved with the public while at Chirk and Powis Castle. ‘People’ skills developed during volunteering at fundraisers and national trust properties. Good observational skills and Awareness of Health & Safety- fieldwork in land based studies. Stamina and physical fitness- volunteering on railway preservation. Awareness of animal needs- pet care (horse, dogs, snake, hamster, chinchillas, rabbits).
