Quality Assurance

McLaren Vale Vine Improvement Society’s procedures are audited annually by third party auditors to

ensure we are maintaining a quality system and delivering quality products and services.

Vinifera Source Areas

Material is cut from registered source areas in the McLaren Vale region. These areas are maintained in

accordance with Industry Accreditation requirements. Should MVVIS have insufficient material to

meet particular orders and suitable material is available from another Vine Improvement Region, you

will be contacted before we fill the order. Material is also available from non-registered source areas.

Root Stocks

MVVIS has developed its Willunga root stock vineyard using trellised training systems which ensure

straight and consistently dimensioned canes.

Labelling

Vinifera cuttings are supplied in bundles of 100. Bundles are tagged as follows –

Blue labels are attached to A Class certified material

Yellow labels are attached to non-certified material.

All labels identify the variety, clone and source of the material.

All source blocks whether certified or not, have been inspected and health checked.

Treatments and Services

Packaging for Interstate Customers

All materials are packaged in plastic. This protects the cuttings from dehydration and

the buds from physical damage during handling. Each package is identified with a

note clearly identifying the customer and the contents of the package. Where several

packages are required to complete an order, all relevant stock notes are recorded on a

delivery note summary. Primary Industry SA certification is provided for interstate

orders. Additional charges apply.

Cold Storage

The customer will be notified when orders are ready for collection or despatch. A 2

day cold storage period from the time of notification is offered free of charge whilst

the customer completes collection or despatch arrangements. If the collection period

exceeds two days a charge of $0.50 plus GST per 100 cuttings will apply for two

weeks. The extended cold storage charge will apply after two weeks.

Extended Cold Storage $10.00 plus GST per 100 cuttings A discount applies to large quantities.

An extended cold storage charge will apply to material held in cold storage for more

than two weeks up to a maximum of four months but not later than 30 November,

2009. At that date the cold store will be shut down. Material for extended cold

storage will require fungicidal treatment. 24 hours notice is required for pick up.

Fungicidal Treatment $10.00 plus GST per 100 cuttings A discount applies to large quantities. MVVIS uses Sporekill and Captan as an alternative to Chinosol as a dip treatment to

reduce the risk of disease developing on cuttings held in cold storage for longer than

two weeks. This treatment will be discussed with the customer before being applied.

Callusing Service $30.00 plus GST per 100 cuttings

Please arrange this service with the Manager when placing orders for cuttings. The

service is also available for customers’ own cuttings.

Hot Water Treatment $5.00 plus GST per 100 cuttings

MVVIS can provide hot water treatment for vinifera cuttings. Please arrange this

service with the Manager when placing orders. Customers should be aware that hot

water treatment may increase mortality rate for cuttings.

We look forward to being of service to you and wish you well for the coming planting

season.
