Este curso tiene una duración de 4 u 8 meses y los contenidos didácticos se estructuran en dos bloques temáticos basados en los contenidos de LearnEnglish Pathways de British Council Upper-Intermediate 1 y Upper-Intermediate 2. Cada uno de ellos está compuesto por seis unidades en las que el alumno podrá practicar el vocabulario y las estructuras gramaticales para alcanzar la competencia lingüística propia de este nivel, según el Marco Común Europeo de referencia para las Lenguas.

Desde Campuseducacion.com hemos incorporado una Guía Gramatical de contenidos, recursos adicionales y un cronograma que complementan el curso. Una vez finalizado, el alumno recibirá un certificado digital del curso expedido por British Council.

MODALIDADES

Una vez matriculado en la modalidad que mejor responde a las necesidades de formación del alumno, desde Campuseducacion.com proponemos un cronograma con indicaciones orientativas para facilitar su planificación y la temporalización de las unidades, en función de si se ha seleccionado la opción de cuatro u ocho meses de duración.

METODOLOGÍA

El curso LearnEnglish Pathways está estructurado en dos bloques temáticos y cada uno de ellos se organiza en diferentes unidades de contenidos. El alumno irá adquiriendo los conocimientos y destrezas de la lengua a través de la exploración de los materiales didácticos y la realización de actividades de aprendizaje interactivas que le permiten aplicar el vocabulario y las estructuras gramaticales propias del nivel, según el Marco Común Europeo de referencia para las Lenguas.

Los materiales didácticos del curso se han elaborado bajo los principios de funcionalidad y significatividad de los aprendizajes. La variedad de actividades y recursos educativos favorecen el interés del alumno, le permiten comprobar la utilidad de lo aprendido y consolidar las competencias para que transciendan al contexto en el que se producen, favoreciendo la generalización de los aprendizajes que le permitirán desenvolverse en distintas situaciones y contextos en inglés.

METODOLOGÍA

El material didáctico del curso British Council LearnEnglish Pathways se estructura en dos bloques de contenido: Upper-Intermediate 1 y Upper-Intermediate 2. Cada uno de ellos está organizado en 6 unidades centradas en un tema diferente y que podrás explorar a través de audio, texto, imágenes y video. Cada unidad está subdividida a su vez en 5 secciones que contienen una serie de 5 a 10 actividades para practicar los conocimientos y destrezas lingüísticas que configuran este nivel, según las capacidades descritas en el Marco Común Europeo de Referencia para las Lenguas.

Además, desde Campuseducacion.com hemos incorporado una Guía Gramatical y de contenidos del curso, que servirá al alumno de referencia y guía para la adquisición y desarrollo de la competencia lingüística acorde con este nivel, así como una sección de Recursos adicionales para el refuerzo o ampliación de los contenidos.

CONTENIDOS

• Unit 1 – Distance learning In this unit you learn vocabulary used to talk about education. You listen to people talking about why they are doing distance learning courses and revise the Present Simple and Continuous tenses. You also look at when we use 'be/get used to doing something'.

Then you learn some computer vocabulary and revise the present perfect simple and continuous, and look at when we use 'used to'. You study some words that are easily confused and learn some phrasal verbs.

UPPER-INTERMEDIATE 1

• Unit 2 – FestivalsIn this unit you learn about some festivals around the world. You listen to a radio interview recorded during the Up-Helly-Aa festival in the Shetland Islands off the north coast of Scotland. You revise past tenses and adjective order and look at some words that are easily confused.

In the writing section you learn more about writing informal letters. You read about two weddings and study how we link sentences and paragraphs together. Then you study some phrasal verbs.

Finally, you read a review of a book on festivals by an American professor. You see an extract from the book and you also listen to an interview with the author. You work on vocabulary, phrasal verbs and you revise 'so' and 'such'.

UPPER-INTERMEDIATE 1

• Unit 3 – The mediaIn this unit you learn vocabulary connected with newspapers and the media, and find out about newspapers in Britain. You look at when and why passives are used, and you also study reported speech, especially reported questions. You review punctuation and learn how to write an article. You also learn some more phrasal verbs.

• Unit 4 – Crime and the lawIn this unit you learn the vocabulary connected with crime, criminals and the law. You look at guessing meanings of words you don't know from their contexts, and the prepositions that go with certain verbs. You learn how to write formal letters of complaint and practise checking your work for errors. You review connecting words within sentences and study aspects of the past, 3rd conditionals and ways of expressing obligation and prohibition.

UPPER-INTERMEDIATE 1

• Unit 5 – Sports, health and fitnessIn this unit you work on sport. You learn vocabulary connected with different sports, places where sports are done and sports injuries, you meet Hanan, a reporter from a local newspaper, as she finds out about sport in her area in order to write an article. There is practice on writing articles and using modal verbs, gerunds and infinitives.

• Unit 6 – Grammar referenceThere are five sections to the grammar reference, each of which provides practice for a different area of grammar covered in the lessons on this Upper-Intermediate 1 course.

UPPER-INTERMEDIATE 1

• Unit 1 – The world of workIn this unit you learn to talk about jobs and their relative attractions, and learn vocabulary connected with work and jobs. You also learn how to write a letter of application for a job. You look at two people's letters of application for the same job and listen to parts of their interviews to decide which would be more suitable. You then examine the advantages and disadvantages of working from home and work on how jobs will change in the future. You also study future tenses and you review the language necessary for making telephone calls.

UPPER-INTERMEDIATE 2

• Unit 2 – Adventure and explorationDo you enjoy adventure? Are you one of those people who does adventure activities, or are you a person who can't understand why people take such risks?

In this unit you follow a group of friends who have decided to go to a centre which organises adventure holidays. You learn the vocabulary to describe the activities, together with the dangers and the feelings which you may have on an adventure. You practise writing informal letters. You listen and read about people who have had adventures and you read and listen about some of the great explorers of the past. You also study gerunds and infinitives, non-defining relative clauses, adjectives ending in -ed and -ing, and phrasal verbs.

UPPER-INTERMEDIATE 2

• Unit 3 – Finding accommodationIn this unit you learn the vocabulary connected with different types of living accommodation, and how to talk about places to live and the problems of finding a suitable place. You also learn to write formal letters in an appropriate style about accommodation and asking for information. You then look at the vocabulary of money matters. You study conditionals referring to the past, and how we indicate that others have done work for us ('have something done'). You review 'too' and 'enough' and learn some two- and three-word verbs.

UPPER-INTERMEDIATE 2

• Unit 4 – The unexplainedIn this unit you learn how to talk about mysteries and strange phenomena. To do this you learn to use the language of speculation. You work with the vocabulary of feelings and sensations. You look again at the past tenses used in telling stories. In the Writing section you learn how to write an article for an informal magazine or newspaper, and how to make the article interesting. You revise how to write descriptions and tell stories. You also look at the use of the definite article, when you need it and when you don't, and you review questions which end in prepositions.

UPPER-INTERMEDIATE 2

• Unit 5 – EntertainmentIn this unit you learn vocabulary connected with films and the theatre, and adjectives you can use to describe them. You review the language used for making suggestions and study further uses of the passive. You also study some verbs used to report speech. You read film reviews and practise writing reviews. You do some work on phrasal verbs, word building and easily confused words.

• Unit 6 – Grammar ReferenceThere are five sections to the grammar reference, each of which provides practice for a different area of grammar covered in the lessons on this Upper-Intermediate 2 course.
