tumors; • the use of the microarrays technology in order to identify gene expression profiles that correlate

with a higher risk of progression in RCC’s; • the development of an evidence-based follow-up protocol for patients who undergo radical

nephrectomy for RCC;

Concerning the clinical activity: • he performed as first operator a significant number of urooncological surgical procedures at

the Toronto General Hospital and at the Sunnybrook and Women’s College Health Sciences Centre;

• he has been in charge for 2 years of the Renal tumor clinic at Princess Margaret Hospital, developing a robust experience in the management of localized, advanced and metastatic RCC;

• he has chaired for 12 months the “Renal tumor board” at the Princess Margaret Hospital, a weekly meeting with interdisciplinary discussion of complex cases of renal oncology and presentation of talks on these topics;

• he regularly attended the conferences and weekly Genito-Urinary Tumor Boards at the Toronto General Hospital and at the Sunnybrook and Women’s College Health Sciences Centre. In these meetings he often moderated the discussion of clinical cases and gave talks about urooncological topics;

• he regularly attended the monthly “Journal Club”, with discussion of outstanding urooncological articles. In several of these occasions he has been in charge of the presentation and discussion of the papers.

Concerning the clinical activity: • he did intensive robotic training, including work at robotic simulators, dry lab and wet lab

on dead and live pigs. • he performed a significant number of robotic procedures at the OLV Ziekenhuis in Aalst,

including mostly robot-assisted radical prostatectomies and robot-assisted partial nephrectomies.

Concerning the teaching and research activity:

• he was responsible of the OLV Robotic Surgery Institute’s training courses for national and international urologists, acting as trainer and supervisor.
