Responsibilities included the development and delivery of curricula on the following topics: Family Systems Approach; Cognitive Behavioral Treatment; Motivational Interviewing; Experiential Group Therapy; Management the Driving Force: Leadership & Change Management; Verbal De-escalation & the Psychology of Behavior; Adolescent Development; Crisis Intervention & Prevention (Suicide); Mandatory Reporting; Causes of Delinquency; Basic Training on Mental Health; Accommodations for Seriously Mentally Ill, Mentally Retarded, and Developmentally Disabled; Confidentiality; and Casework & the Team Approach.

8/2011 – present Annual Course Director- BCHS 7202- Health Behavior Change (3 credit hours). This is an advanced PhD level course on theoretical and practical aspects of health behavior change. The course is designed to provide and understanding of theoretical issues and current methodologies influencing health behavior change. Several models of health behavior change are studied in detail. The strengths and shortcomings of these models for the development and evaluation of interventions at individual, community and system levels are critically assessed. Students are expected to translate their knowledge into practical interventions for health behavior change.

6/2012 – present Annual Course Director- BCHS 7352- Mental Health Promotion in Community Health Sciences (3 credit hours). This course exposes MPH and PhD seeking students to the emerging field of mental health promotion;

The course objectives are to impart knowledge of the basic principles of mental health promotion; teach the many factors causal to mental illness and the maintenance of mental health; and afford students an understanding of the complexity and multiplicity of disciplines involved in the practice of mental health promotion.

8/2013 – present Course Director- BCHS 7702- Grantsmanship and Proposal Development (2 credit hours) Independent study to afford PhD students the opportunity to complete and submit a federal grant application related to their research interest under the guidance of their major advisor.

6/2015 – present Annual Course Director- BCHS 7410- CHS Teaching Practicum (2 credit hours). This course provides PhD students with supervised teaching experience to develop their pedagogical skills. This experience will come primarily from serving in the role of teaching assistants for Behavioral and Community Health Sciences courses. Developmental workshops and materials offered by the LSU Health Sciences Center’s Academy for the Advancement of Educational Scholarship will be incorporated as part of the training experience.

1/2016 – present BCHS Faculty Representative and Student Presentations Reviewer - PUBH 6600- Culminating Experience Course (3 credit hours). This course provides MPH students a team, multi-disciplinary approach to synthesizing and integrating knowledge acquired in coursework and other learning experiences as they apply theory and principles in situations that approximate some aspects of professional practice before graduation.

This was the first sold-out conference in the 30 year history of the professional gathering also boasting a record number of national speakers. Developed and co-produced a webinar series, “Lessons Learned: Implementing Evidence Based Practices.” This 5 part series includes live web presentations from Louisiana Models for Change grantees over the course of 2009 and 2010. Presenters included Jefferson Parish Juvenile Services, Rapides Parish FFT Service Providers, Calcasieu FFT Service Providers and Juvenile Services, 16th Judicial District Attorney Diversion Program, and Caddo Juvenile Services. Presentations are archived and available for future use at LSUHSC. Member of the 2012 workshop proposal committee for the annual National Models for Change in Juvenile Justice Systems Reform Conference. Peer review of workshops from national submissions representing areas of building and sustaining systemic reform, promoting equity and reducing racial and ethnic disparity, addressing mental health needs among justice involved youth, enhancing the quality of indigent defense, reintegrating youth to their families and communities after adjudication, and developmentally appropriate alternatives to detention and confinement.

Member of the development and leadership team for the Sustaining Louisiana Juvenile Justice Best Practices: Institute for Public Health and Justice, Leveraging Success for Future Reform conference 2013. Managed breakout sessions regarding advancing evidence-based practices; reviewed conference materials and provided feedback to conference team and presenters; facilitated breakout sessions; and presented on models for developing evidence-based practices. Coordinator and facilitator of the 2014 Louisiana Leadership meeting on Juvenile Reform. Meeting brought together statewide and national leadership to report and analyze reform to date and set a course for areas of strengths and challenges for future reform efforts. Participants included Foundation leadership, national association leadership, judges, district attorneys, public defenders, state and local juvenile justice agency leadership, probation, advocates, researchers, and other key stakeholders. Lead developer and coordinator of the 2014 Academy for the Implementation Strategy for Advancing Evidence Based Community Practices for Justice Involved Youth. This academy works with regional and state cross-disciplinary professional teams that gather to understand the latest science regarding implementing and sustaining evidence based practices. Each team leaves the academy with an implementation plan leading to the further dissemination of evidence-based juvenile justice practices. Lead developer of the Louisiana Consensus Meetings on Juvenile Justice Reform: Town Hall Series. These discussion and polling format meetings involve several cities around Louisiana and top state leadership including state administration, judges, district attorneys, public defenders, law enforcement, probation officers, providers, and other stake holders. These meetings have been held every two years. Key areas of potential reform are reviewed, and findings are presented to the Juvenile Justice Implementation Commission of the Louisiana State Legislature (2011 – 2015).
