RECENT SERVICE ACTIVITIES

Conception and development of the National Nursing Education Research Network

(NNERN), a collaborative of nursing schools committed to collecting a uniform core of

measures in annual surveys of faculty and students to support longitudinal study of issues

critical to academic nursing, 2014-present

Hosted and chaired meetings in Indianapolis, Chicago, and Washington DC with

executive leadership of the major nursing education organizations: American

Association of Colleges of Nursing, National League for Nursing, National Council of

State Boards of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society, 2014-2015

Designed and maintained interactive web-interface to the data base from our national

survey of nurse faculty, permitting individual nursing programs to produce

customized distributions comparing their own faculty members to national averages;

serves as a prototype for Research Network, 2012

(http://www.evaluatinginnovationsinnursing.org/nufaqs-nurse-faculty-data-query/)

Secured planning grant and recruited two prominent academic nursing leaders to head

initiatives and securing funding in those cities, including Corey Booker and Michelle

Obama’s ceremony launching Let’s Move (November, 2010), Campbell Soup Company’s

announcement of its commitment of $10 million to address childhood obesity in Camden

(2011), and announcement of a collaboration between Nestle Foods Corporation and the City

of Newark (2012)
