In one of the feel good stories of the Games thus far veteran Denny Morrison won a silver medal in the men's 1000

Teammate Gilmore Junio stepped aside so Morrsion could compete in the 1000 m

Having come back from a broken leg the year before, Morrison agonizingly fell at the Canadian trials in December and failed to qualify for the 1,000 metres.

"I've heard a rumour that Speed Skating Canada is pushing to have Gilmore Junio as the Canadian flag-bearer at the closing ceremonies

Feel good story number two was three sisters from the same family qualifying for the finals on women’s freestyle moguls

Canada’s gold and silver medal-winning sisters, Justine and Chloe Dufour-Lapointe were joined by their elder sister Maxine in finals

The women's hockey team finished first in round robin play and advance directly to the semi finals

"The sisters, who skipped the opening ceremonies because they were too close to the competition, plan to stay in Sochi to soak it all in.

RCMP are investigating after a man BASE jumped from the Peak 2 Peak Gondola in Whistler, B.C., last Thursday, then posted a video of the illegal stunt on YouTube.

In a statement issued Wednesday, a representative of Whistler Blackcomb said the man first entered the gondola at around 3:45 p.m. PT before jumping 436 metres from the moving cabin, at the highest point above Fitzsimmons Creek

Judging from the video, it appears the man landed safely

The statement added that it is believed the man used brute force to open the gondola doors and damaged the opening and locking systems, which are designed to prevent the doors opening on their own.

The title of the video, "McConkey Reborn," apparently honours Shane McConkey, an extreme skier who BASE jumped from the same point on the Peak 2 Peak Gondola when it opened in 2008.

BASE jumping usually involves a leap off fixed objects, such as a cliff or a building, with a parachutehttp://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/illegal-base-jump-from-whistler-peak-2-peak-gondola-probed-1.2534751

Della Sears, the mother of a fishing captain who died with four of his crew mates when their boat capsized in rough seas and cold water off the coast of Nova Scotia, says it's time to promote a new type of personal tracking beacon for fishermen.

The Miss Ally ran into a storm on Feb. 17, 2013, five days after leaving a wharf on Cape Sable Island in southwestern Nova Scotia to fish for halibut.

The boat capsized after being slammed by a wall of water nearly 20 metres high.

Sears wants fishermen to consider buying and wearing a personal beacon — a tracking device the size of a smartphone and a bit thicker.

It can be attached to clothing and emits a signal that bounces off a satellite and sends a message to the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Halifax

Della Sears drove her son, Katlin Nickerson, and the four crew members of the Miss Ally to the wharf on the night of Feb. 12, 2013. That was the last time she saw them.
