PM Modi Inaugurates New Headquarters Building Of ASI
Prime Minister Narendra Modiinaugurated the new Headquarters building of
the Archaeological Survey of India in New Delhi.
The new Headquarters building is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including
energy-efficient lighting and rainwater harvesting. It will also include a Central
Archaeological Library with a collection of about one lakh 50 thousand books and
journals.
Niti Aayog proposes 15-point action plan to combat air pollution in ten mostpolluted cities
Niti Aayog has proposed a 15-point action plan to combat air pollution in ten most
polluted cities in the country, including Delhi, Kanpur and Varanasi. The draft action plan
titled ‘Breathe India’ includes encouraging electric vehicles, phasing out private diesel
vehicle and development of crop residue utilisation policy.

Nepal returns the dancing bear to India
Nineteen-year-old sloth bear Rangila which was smuggled into Nepal in December 2017
is being sent back to India. The Indian and Nepalese governments, Nepal’s Jane Goodall
Institute, and the Indian non-profit, Wildlife SOS, facilitated the repatriation.

Andhra govt launched ‘Anna Canteens’, meals at just Rs 5
Andhra Pradesh government launched 60 ‘Anna’ canteens serving breakfast, lunch and
dinner at just Rs.5, in nearly 25 municipalities across the state in the first phase, and will
be run by Akshaya Patra Foundation. Chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated a
canteen in Vijayawada. In the second phase of the project worth 83 crore, another 103
canteens would be inaugurated by August 15.
Himachal CM announced Rs 1.55 crore cow sanctuary project
Himachal Pradesh CM Jairam Thakur announced a 1.55-crore project to set up a cow
sanctuary at Kotla Barog, , near Rajgarh in Sirmaur district. Here the animals will be free
to roam in the fenced area. This sanctuary provides grazing facility to 500 animals,
mostly stray cows. Madhya Pradesh is the only state which till now had introduced the
concept of cow sanctuaries.
India’s 1st Private UAV Factory To Come Up In Kota
India’s first private sector unitfor manufacturing Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV) and light
bullet proof vehicles (LBPV) will be set up by DCM Shriram Industries Group on the
campus of Shriram Rayons in Kota, Rajasthan.
Gujarat signs MoU with Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency tostrengthen trade, industrial relations
Gujarat Government’s Industries and Mines Department has signed Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) to
strengthen trade, industrial relations. KOTRA is national trade and investment promotion
organisation operated by South Korea Government.
Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani gives approval for Rs 39-cr ‘Seema Darshan’ project
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has given in-principle approval for the 39-crore
rupees ‘Seema Darshan’ project for developing more infrastructure facilities from T-
Junction to Zero Point at Nadabet near Suigam in Banaskantha district to instil patriotism
through a unique Gujarat initiative for border tourism.

India joins European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
India on Wednesday formally joined the European Bank for Reconstruction and
Development (EBRD), becoming the London-based multilateral lender’s 69th member.
The membership will help Indian companies undertake joint investments in regions in
which the EBRD operates. EBRD, whose core operations pertain to the private sector, has
worked with Indian companies including Tata group and Jindal group.

Indian computers and hardware devices are vulnerable says Avast CTO
Ondrej Vlcek, CTO of Avast, said in order to prevent cyber attacks on the country’s
massive IT infrastructure, India must go the Japanese way. Japan has brought in a
stringent regulatory mechanism to put its IT infrastructure under a protective shield.

Government approved Net Neutrality, new telecom policy
To ensure open and free Internet in India, the government has approved the principle of
net neutrality, which means that telecom and Internet service providers must treat all
data on the Internet equally, and not discriminate or charge differently by user, content,
site, platform, or application. They cannot engage in practices such as blocking, slowing
down or granting preferential speeds to any content.

Resolution 2427: to protect children in armed conflict adopted by UN SecurityCouncil
The 15 member UN Security Council adopted Resolution 2427 aimed at formulating a
framework for protection, rights, well-being and empowerment of children throughout

India Ranked 57 in Global Innovation Index: Switzerland Tops
This year, India ranked as the 57th most innovative nation in the world, and has
improved its ranking from 60th position last year. Since 2011, Switzerland has been
ranked at the top every year.
India surpasses France to become world’s sixth largest economy
According to World Bank data on a gross domestic product (GDP) of countries for 2017,
India has recorded a GDP of USD 2,597,491 million, followed by USD 2,582,501 of
France. United States has topped the list recording a GDP of USD 19,390,604 million,
followed by China with USD 12,237,700 million.
