mong them is Lot 50, an unnamed bay filly considered one of the best-bred yearlings at the sale. She is by Rosedene’s resident stallion Grey’s Inn from Two Cities, a three-quarter sister to a league of stars including Triple Crown winner Horse Chestnut, dual Oaks winner Monyela and Emerald Cup winner Iron Curtain.

Two Cities herself won one race over 1400m and this is a first foal Koster describes as “nice and neat, a quality specimen with a good head and eye. She walks well.”

Koster mentioned two others from his consignment: Lots 3 and 46.

Lot 3 (Unnamed) is a grey colt by Grey’s Inn from Red Caviar, by Russian Revival. He hails from the immediate family of Wolf Whistle and according to his breeder is “one I like, a very nice colt!”

Lot 46 is another yet to be named chestnut filly by Biarritz, who has sired a stakes-winning filly from his second crop, from Tin Legs (x Western Winter), a graded-placed four-time winner from a good extended family of sprinter-milers. “She’s well worth a look,” Koster said.

She bought two others and was also acting for Marsh Shirtliff, Bryn Ressell, James Drew and Mike Fullard.

Jooste, for whom Brugman also bought two to stay in Australia, was among the sellers as well and sold four by the 2012 Golden Horse winner Delago Deluxe who was bred in Australia and stands at the Newhaven Park Stud in New South Wales.

Brugman said: “Delago Deluxe has been very well received in Australia and his yearlings are selling fantastically well.”

Delago Deluxe a $550,000 yearling consigned from Baramul Stud at the 2010 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale stands in partnership with Nordic Racing and Breeding.

On the track the handsome Delago Deluxe was crowned South Africa’s undefeated Champion 2YO in a season that included victory in the

Gr1 Gold Medallion (1200m) at Scottsville.He returned at three to score a 1.25-lengths victory

over his older rivals in the Gr1 Golden Horse Sprint (1200m) at the same track

Markus Jooste, the leading owner in South Africa for each of the last eight seasons, is now part-owner of a significant number of horses with the great Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien at Ballydoyle, one of the most impressive and most successful training establishments in the world.
