Research Report

What is a Research Report?

A multi-page document

summarizing research findings

written in an organized format.Example of use of a Research Report:

A marketing research report summarizing the supply and

demand statistics for a new product.

Unbound Report

• Short reports that are prepared without

binders or cover

• If the report is more than one page its held

together with a staple or paper clip.

• All Margins are the same (1 inch)

Top margin is wider (1.5”) to accommodate binding along the top

margin.

Title Page: The first page of a report

Components of a Title Page:

• Title of the report

• Writer’s name

• Teacher/professor’s name

• Date of publication

• Identifies the:

– Title of the report

– Author of the report

– Teacher/Class that the report is for

– Date that the report is due/was completed

• Formatting

– 1” top margin

– 1” side margins

– All information is horizontally and vertically centered

– Report title is keyed in ALL CAPS

The Title of a report is required.

The Title includes the identifying

information and is keyed in the top

left margin of the Report.
