Extensively worked in healthcare technologies, workflows and process improvements such as EHR, HIM-Digital Imaging Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Practice Management System (PMS), Clinical Systems, Patient Portal, Health Information Exchange (HIE), HIPAA, Patient Privacy.

Managed the implementation of the electronic scanning project that resulted in the elimination of 200,000+ paper medical records and the reduction of 43 FTEs and $1M annual cost savings. Centralized the HIM Department to gain operational efficiencies and improved service to customers. Assisted with the implementation of a Voice Recognition System to reduce $1.5 million of annual transcription costs.

Key super-user and stakeholder in the implementation of the Allscripts EHR system modules, which included Document/Dictate; E-prescribing; Lab Verification, and Call Processing. The EHR implementation resulted in improved patient care, patient satisfaction, cost savings, and improved revenue to the organization

Implemented the HIE (Health Information Exchange), a non-federated peer-to-peer network (co-op model) for an ambulatory care organization and community hospitals. As part of this, received the hospital admission and discharge information filed into the EHR system at the Point of Care (POC). A HL7 format interface was developed to receive History & Physicals, Operative, Pathology, all Radiology Reports including Radiology Diagnostic, CT Scans, MRI, Mammo's, Echos, and Stress Tests in real time basis. While improving the overall patient care, this resulted in $655K annual savings (duplicate lab and diagnostic studies and providers’ time) and savings of total 12,816 hrs of patient wait time.

Assisted in the efforts to meet the HITECH as well as Meaningful Use (MU) security requirements. As part of this, reviewed the current P&Ps to align with the new requirements. Coordinated efforts with IT for meaningful use (MU) certified version of EHR, Lab and Radiology Orders, MU stage one 15 cores and 5 menu set measures. Working with providers, patient care staff and other departments to standardized the problem list, orders, clinical summary and several other workflows to improve the patient care. The organization successfully attested 55% of providers and expected to receive $1.2 million as first payment in 2012 with total of $4.5 million expected revenue over the next five years

Led the successful implementation of the Patient Portal and the Patient Portal Call Center and Help Desk for providers, clinical staff and patients for all satellite locations throughout the organization. This allowed for timelier communication and coordination of care between patient and provider with emphasis on improved access for patients to make or cancel an appointment on-line, review limited labs and radiology results and vital statistics, order a medication refill or request a change in medication or dosage.

Chairperson, Forms Control Committee. Defined and implemented a workflow for standardizing, evaluating and coordinating clinical paper forms in a cost-effective manner. All forms including new and existing that get scanned into the medical record were presented and approved by the Forms Committee for either trial or permanent use.

Maintained the Electronic Chart Order of the organization which included all form types and the proper placement of the form within the Electronic Health Record including established the defined document types and mapping within the appropriate chart dictionary both maintained and approved by the Health Information Technology Steering Committee and HIM Executive Leadership.

Distinguished member of the Health Information Technology Steering Committee (HITS), Safety, Risk Management and IT and Nursing Leadership forums, Fee & Coding Compliance Committee (FCCC), Medical Staff and Peer Review Committees.

Effectively managed the State Disability Department, which included the processing of all initial State EDD application claim forms, extensions, FMLA and employer/insurance forms for 200+providers and patients.

Managed the Release of Information (ROI) Department including Grievances and Appeals and Subpoena processing. Developed HIPAA Compliant workflows for patient request of their Protected Health Information (PHI), including Accounting of Disclosures, Restrictions and Amendments.

Managed the Prescription Refill Desk and Call Center, which included mail order and prior authorization processing. Assisted in the development of Pharmacy Technician Protocols that resulted in improvement of patient medication compliance and reduction of medication order workload for physicians. Ensured proper turnaround times were met for all pharmacy related requests. Effectively coordinated efforts to engage all local and community pharmacies to reduce duplications of efforts, wait times and overall patient experience.
