DESCRIPTION

According to new research conducted for the Home Instead Senior Care® network,seniors who live alone generally eat more nutritiously when sharing meals with familyand friends. To provide further incentive for sharing family meals, Home Instead, Inc has created Craving Companionship, a free support program which offersfamily caregivers tips and practical advice to encourage companionship and easy,healthy meals. As part of this program, the Homemade Memories Recipe Contest(“Contest”) aims to help families revive mealtimes with their senior loved ones by inviting seniors and their families to submit their favorite family recipes, along with a story toexplain why these family recipes are so treasured.

– Selected recipes and stories will be posted online– Homemade MemoriesSM Cookbook will feature selected

recipes and stories – Cookbook will be available for purchase in time for 2011

The Nutritional Risks

Two of five U.S. seniors who live alone have at least four warning signs of poor nutritional health, according to Home Instead Senior Care® network research.* The signs and their incidence rates:– Eating alone most of the time (76%)– Taking three or more different medications a day (71%)– Eating few fruits, vegetables or milk products (46%)– Having an illness/condition that prompted a diet change

(31%)– Not being able to shop, cook or feed themselves (25%)
