Our mission at COUTURE BOOK is to create luxury, one-of-a-kind, handmade Coffee Table Books for your digital photos. We apply the highest standards of integrity, creativity, quality, and innovation to create the most beautiful books in the world.

UNIQUE | FEATURES

ENVIRONMENT:All books are printed on paper with at least 50% recycled content and are shipped with recyclable packaging. Earth Collection books printed on 100% recyled paper powered by wind energy.

MATERIALS:Only the best materials available are utilized in the production process-- from fabrics imported from all reaches of the world, to French silk thread for the binding.

CRAFTSMANSHIP:Each book is made by hand by master craftspeople in the USA to our exacting standards. We utilize old-world binding techniques to ensure the books will last generations.

Due to the hand craftmanshipof each book, books can takefrom 4-5 weeks complete.

Archival quality inks and higheststandard papers are used.

TECHNOLOGY:The latest in digital offset printing is utilized and quality checked to the highest degree. Internet technology ensures a seamless ordering experience.

SHEATH BOXESMatching sheath boxes are included in the base cost of all English Line books.

These beautiful enclosures provide a way to protect and finish each book, and create a beautiful final presentation you will be proud to deliver to your client.

Each box is hand made with a precise fit, so the book slides easily and the box pieces fit together snugly enough to hold it all together securely.

CUSTOM REQUESTSAsk us about creating custom slipcases or sheath boxes for our other collections for an additional fee. We are able to accommodate just about any request.

Lokta paper is made from the bark of the Daphne Cannabina bush, which grows naturally in the Himalayas at altitudes of 6500 to 9500 feet. After harvesting, the bush naturally regenerates, reaching full maturity again in 6-7 years. The paper and the process of making it are completely natural, posing no threat to the Himalayan ecosystem.

The bark is gathered at high altitudes and then carried down to villages, where local paper makers clean and boil the bark. The boiled bark is beaten with wooden mallets, producing a pulp, then poured over screened wooden frames and dried in the Himalayan sunshine, just as it was a thousand years ago.

OK, you are sold! You love the books, and now, how do you go about ordering?

1) Visit our website and look through this brochure to see our collections, features, and pricelist.

2) Start with our test print program. For $45, you send in two 11x17 layouts (log in to download templates), and we will print them on all the different paper types we print on. It’s a great way to feel the paper textures and see how your images will print so you can make any adjustments before your first order. Email [email protected] for details.

2) You have several design options on laying out your book a) Design yourself using Photoshop, Aperture or other software b) Design yourself using our online tools c) Send in your photos for in-house design (simple or custom)

3) Once you have decided on the book style and size of book, and your design option, you upload your jpg images at www.couturebook.com/build, and preview and complete your order there.

GETTING | STARTED

DESIGNING | YOURSELFBooks come in 8 standard sizes: 8.5x6 and 10x7 horizontal, 6x6, 6x7.5, 8x8, 8x10, 10x10, and 10x12.5

USING PHOTOSHOPIf you are laying out your book using Photoshop or any other design tools, you would design your pag-es at 300 dpi in RGB format at the size given above. So for example, if you are making an 8x10 book, each page JPG would be 2400 x 3000 pixels.

You would upload your split JPGs via our website. In the layout tool on the website, select “Full Bleed” as your design option, and the system will fill your design pages to the edges of the page.

DESIGNING VIA THE WEBSITEIf you are going to use the online system to lay out your book, you would upload your individual JPG images and select your options.

There are simple options available on the website as it was our intention to make the online tool as quick and easy to do an auto layout of a book. The following options are available.Single Image per page Full Bleed image (to the edge of the page without cropping) Bordered Image (Polaroid Transfer, Sloppy Border, Avedon, Film Border, Thin Sloppy, Keyline)Random Design This keeps the images in sequence but pulls templates at random. You can re-randomize the book layout.

It is our intention to enhance the online tools to add text, blank pages, to move images, and to do 2 page spreads, however fully custom design should be done yourself or use our in-house design service.


Our in-house graphic design service is a great solution if you want no work at all. Below are sample layouts for our Simple Design service.

Process:You download the order form, fill it out, and send us your CD or DVD of your images in the proper sequence to the address on the order form. Coming soon will be an online order form with optional image upload. Design is posted online for approval one week from receipt of files.

How do I Get Started?To get started, please click on the “CREATE” link on the bottom right of our homepage.If you are a professional photographer or artist, please register for an account and we’ll send you more information on how to start creating your own custom books immediately.If you are not a professional but you would like a book for your project, you can either contact your photographer directly, or please click on the “Special Projects” link to give us more information on your project, and we’ll be happy to connect you with a local designer/photographer/artist in your area that offers our collection.

How long does it take to receive a book once my order is placed?Once we receive your order, due to the custom, handmade nature of the books, please allow 4-5 weeks for us to print and bind your books. We will send you an email with the tracking number as soon as your order ships.

Are your books archival?A Couture Book is meant to last generations. We use completely archival paper, and old world binding techniques.

What type of papers do you print on?The paper types depend on the book style that your order. All of our papers are made with a minimum of 50% recycled content, and of a 100# text weight stock. All of the papers are also acid- free and completely archival. Our Earth Collection paper uses 100# Post-consumer recycled fibers throughout the entire book.

What color space do I need to work in?We will be happy to take care of the color management on our end, as the color space can change depending on the book type and size. If you would like to manage that aspect, please save your layouts in sRGB and please feel free to contact us for specifics on each book type.

What size should my images/layouts be?Your images should be full size, and if you are designing your own layouts, your workspace should be sized to the exact dimensions of the book at 300 DPI. If you are using our online design tool, high resolution jpg images at a minimum of 4x6 are recommended.

Do you have a sample discount?We know how important it is to have beautiful books to show your customers your work, so we are happy to be able to offer a 50% discount on your first studio sample book. Additional samples are 25% off. Simply contact the support team ([email protected]) after you place your order and we’ll credit you back for the difference.

Do you service International customers?Absolutely! All prices listed on the site are in USD, but we can ship anywhere in the world.

Do you have a guarantee?All of our books carry with them a lifetime guarantee on the binding and workmanship.

1) PRICE SHOWN IS UP TO THE NUMBER OF PAGES LISTED. ALL BOOKS ARE CUSTOM MADE TO YOUR SPECIFICATIONS, SO A 60 PAGE BOOK WILL BE BOUND WITH ONLY 60 PAGES, BUT THE PRICING WILL BE THE SAME AS THE 100 PAGE BOOK.(As an aside, the books are priced this way for 2 reasons. The first is to keep it simple. The second is we want to encourage our customers to go with thicker books, as we know that a thicker book will look and feel more like a high-end published/museum book.)

2) PRICE SHOWN INCLUDES ALL STANDARD OPTIONS FOR THAT LINE (i.e. Debossed Cover Image).
