County of Santa Barbara – Employees’ University

Skillsoft AB 1825 Harassment Training

Tip Sheet

If you are a recently promoted or hired lead, supervisor, manager or executive, you will receive a “Welcome” email with a link to the EU E-Learning website and login credentials from Skillport that will enable you to take the recurring, state mandated training on Harassment Prevention. (This email comes from [email protected]; check your junk folder if you do not find it.) This online training can be taken from any computer with internet access and must be completed within 6 months or hire or promotion. (If you are a lead, supervisor, manager or executive, and do not receive this email, contact your HR Manager.)

SETTING UP YOUR ACCOUNT You will want to log in to the Skillsoft site as soon as you can. When you follow the link in the “Welcome” email, you will see a site that looks familiar.

You may want to make this site a “favorite” on your browser tab, for ease of use in the future.

When you logon the first time, use the User ID and Password from the email you received from Skillport. You will be forced to change your password to your own personal, private password, following the normal County network password guidelines.

Remember your password, but do not share it with anyone. If you forget your password, you must use the “forgotten password” link on the bottom of the screen to access your account. No one at the County or the Employees’ University can see, retrieve or change your password.

MY PLAN This provides access to the AB 1825 Harassment Prevention Course, for Leads, Supervisors, Managers and Executives.

After clicking on “My Plan”, then click on the “Assigned” folder.

In this folder you will see a link to the AB 1825 Harassment Training. When you click on the course, you’ll be given the option to “launch” the course. (To play the course, you will see a blue, sideways triangle that looks like a “Play” button. Click to play.) There are additional navigational tools and options on the bottom of the screen, including a “pause” button. The state requires this course to be at least two (2) hours long. If you allow the video and audio to play automatically, you will meet the minimum time required. COMPLETION

You may take the course as many times as you wish. The system will automatically track your progress, your test scores and your successful completion. You will see the course as complete, when you have completed all the requirements. If you are unsure if you are complete or not, use the “Support” tab to request assistance from Skillsoft. There is no need to print a certificate or furnish any proof of completion, it is tracked by the system. However, you may print a certificate for your own records if you wish. When you have finished the course, be sure you click on “EXIT” in the top, right hand corner. DO NOT CLICK ON THE “X” AT THE TOP as if you were closing a browser. Use the “EXIT” button. TIME REQUIRED The training will take a minimum of two (2) hours to complete. You do not have to complete the training in one sitting; you may bookmark your progress and log out and complete the course at a later time. TROUBLE SHOOTING The most efficient means of resolving technical or navigational problems with this online course is to utilize any of the options under the “Support” tab on the left side of the screen. If these options do not resolve your issue, contact the Employees’ University. If you are unable to logon, first check with your HR Manager to ensure you are required to take this training. RECURRENCY As required by the State this training must be completed every other year. The County of Santa Barbara’s training years are odd numbered years. So even if you take this course in 2014 (due to being a new hire or promotion) you will still required to retake it in 2015. This training must be taken within six (6) months of hire or promotion into a lead, supervisory, managerial or executive position. For questions regarding who is required to take this training, contact your HR Manager. For questions regarding the training class, contact the Employees’ University.
