RED CAPE

The red cape was used throughout the thriller to bring effect and to give the connotation of danger through the use of red.

The cape doesn’t present a meaning during the opening as she just places the cape on. This makes the audience want to carry on watching the film as it could have a meaning throughout the film. For example; why the husband is discovered dead at the end of the garden whilst the cape is on Mrs Williams.

Using all blackThe character Mrs Williams wore black clothing during the opening this shows darkness and being plain as Mrs Williams doesn’t have an identity. Using normal colourful clothes would create the image of normality and also attract too much attention.

Using casual clothing also indicates that she is relaxed and comfortable in her own home, but also about the mysterious incident which has happened during the opening.
