Crop tool used to re-size picture as it was too large to fit on the canvas.

Page 2: Copy of magazine progress

This was the result. Now the photo fits on the canvas.

Page 3: Copy of magazine progress

Used the scale tool to alter the mast head, so that it can take up more room on the front page, as it looked condensed.

Page 4: Copy of magazine progress

The mast had has taken up more room on my front page. I thought that the masthead didn’t stand out so I used the colour tool to change to change the outline of my mast head.

I have changed the colour of the outline on my masthead and now the masthead stands out as result.

Page 5: Copy of magazine progress

The picture was big for the canvas on fireworks, so I used the scale tool to decrease the size of the picture.

Page 6: Copy of magazine progress

By using the scale tool, I have now decreased the size of the photo and now the photo fits on the canvas on fireworks.

In order to get my models body over the title, I copied and pasted the layers of which is my model on the cover.

Page 7: Copy of magazine progress

Next I will use the lasso tool to crop around the picture that doesn’t that have the masthead with it.

Unfortunately, I t didn’t work out well for me. So I used the scale tool to increase the size of the picture so that the head room between my model and the masthead is decreased.

I clicked the lock icon for all the bitmaps and text so that they wouldn’t be altered when I increased the size of my picture, I also clicked the lock icon so, I can alter the size of my main picture. Then, I clicked the eye icon so that all my text was invisible and that it wouldn’t be moved around so that I could then use the scale tool to make increase my picture size.

Page 8: Copy of magazine progress

And this was the result of using the scale tool to decrease the head room between my picture and mast head.

In order to follow a colour scheme, I wanted to use black white and yellow for my magazine, but it didn’t work out well, so I used green instead of yellow to see if it worked with my front page

Page 9: Copy of magazine progress

I used the eye dropper tool, so that I could take the colour green and use it for my puffs.

I used it for “Angel Haze” and the pull quote underneath the puff.

Page 10: Copy of magazine progress

I am going to use the scale tool to rotate the picture slightly and decrease the size of the other magazine for which I am going to use for a subscription advert I have mimicked the layout of the NME contents page, by doing this, I will be following conventions of music magazines.

Page 11: Copy of magazine progress

So that I can bring the photo in front of the vector, I right clicked, went to “arrange” and then selected “bring forward” so that it will be in front of the box and when I use the scale tool to decrease the size, it will be inside the box.

I used the scale tool to decrease and rotate the picture so that it was at an angle so that I could use it for my subscription, still mimicking the NME contents page layout and still following conventions.

Page 12: Copy of magazine progress

After audience feedback for my cover page, I found that there were too many colours that were being used on the front page. They also suggested I used a different picture for my front page.

For my front cover photo, I edited this on pic monkey. I used the “lip tint” tool to change the colour of her top so that I could use the colour as part of my colour scheme.

Copied and pasted the photos of Rhian. Then put the masthead layer in between. I then used the magic wand tool to crop the layer underneath.

Page 13: Copy of magazine progress

This way, I am able to get my masthead behind the main cover image, following conventions of hip hop magazines, in which the cover star is always in front of the masthead, posing their importance. Also the audience already know the name of the magazine, no matter what because of the general house style it uses.

This is the finished product after changing the colour of my models vest top.

Mini article for contents page

Meet Angel Haze! From nothing to something, straight up from the underground! Since she burst onto the scene in 2010, Angel has made a name for herself. She's dropped a couple of mixtapes and is now working on her debut album, “The wrath of Angel”. Right now she's assisting A$VP Rocky on his LongLiveA$VP tour in the United States. She has taken time out of her busy schedule to come and visit us at HQ and answers some questions about what’s happened in terms of her music has, what is happening right now and what we can expect in the near future.

Im increasing the brightness of the picture, unfortunately, this will not work for my magazine as the actual picture is too dark and editing this photo will damage the quality.

Page 15: Copy of magazine progress

The crop tool was used so that I can select what part of the photo I wanted to use for my double page spread.

My double page spread was inspired from the source magazine.

Page 16: Copy of magazine progress

Scale tool was used to manipulate the size of the drop cap’ so that I could make it wider.

Page 17: Copy of magazine progress

Changing the transparency of the drop cap this did not work as it would make it harder for my audience to read

Page 18: Copy of magazine progress

I left the transparency at 100, as it didn’t when the drop cap was transparent.

Page 19: Copy of magazine progress

I used the eye dropper tool so that I can use one of the colours from the photo for the drop cap.

Page 20: Copy of magazine progress

The colour has been changed, I changed it to green as It stands out and it catches the eye of the reader. Now I’m using the scale tool to make the drop cap bigger

Draft Article for double page spread.

“What is hip hop? I am hip hop. I am the truth.” Strong, strong words from the industry’s newest starlet, Angel Haze. Fresh of the underground scene, Angel has been getting used to all the mainstream attention and the team at Bassline caught her after one of her studio sessions and there we asked her some questions on how she’s coping with the pressures of being exposed to a bigger, wider, more mainstream audience.

We sat down with her outside the recording booth as she sat down and kicked back after a hard day’s work of recording new material for her debut album, “The Wrath of Angel”. We asked her what inspires her to make her music and sat back and thought for a moment. “I grew up in the gutter, I got a lot of stories to tell, get me?” If you know Angel, then you would know that she speaks the truth in a lot of her songs. “My main influences in music are Wretch 32” a UK Artist who is her label mate, long-time friend and collaborator, “Nas and Jay Z” artists who like to throw a story in their tracks every now and again. “People like Wretch always tell me, “don’t stop ‘till you’re at the top of your game and you’ve left all the haters in the dust”” these words have echoed in her head since then and now her only grind is to “put new music out and show it to the world”.

Page 21: Copy of magazine progress

We asked her how she felt about going blowing up, as we awaited anxiously for her answer, she sat back and light a cigarette, took a draw and thought for a minute. “You know what? Ain’t nothing changed; I’m still about my business. Just got to forget the haters and move on” Intrigued, we asked her about the haters and how they’ve tried to stop her in her tracks in the past “*laughs* you know me, trouble always comes and finds me somehow” as you know, Angel has had some beef with fellow rappers in the game such as Rick Ross’ and his MMG affiliates, Meek Mill, Wale and Stalley, which result her in receiving death threats from die hard hip hop fans. “*laughs again* I didn’t mind it at first, because I knew nothing would come of it. Things only got peak when they sent for my family. That’s where I just completely lost it, I didn’t care about my life, I’m more afraid of the life I live than death. I just wanted to make sure that my Mum and little brothers were okay” Angel believes that family comes first in everything. “I don’t care who you are, you mess with my family, you mess with me.” Angel also looks to her Mother for inspiration, “If it wasn’t for her, I’d be stuck in the trap (gutter) she’s is the foundation of all my motivation, without her I wouldn’t have gotten this far” it is clear that she owes her mother for everything she has ever achieved.

From then on she has made a name for herself on the scene by releasing her hit single "Too P**sy to" with Honey Cocaine and is currently working on her mixtape and debut album, she has also appeared on Tyga's commercially successful mixtape "#WellDone3: Fatality" and to top it off, Young Money's Lil Wayne has taken notice of her excellent work and has suggested that she makes a couple of tracks with Birdman, Busta Rhymes and himself.

Angel has been working hard on her studio album, along that, she’s been on tour with A$VP Rocky who’s promoting the release of his upcoming album, “Long.Live.A$VP”. “Everything is good right about now” she said as she took another draw from her cigarette. We asked her what we can expect from her in the near future, “I got some real hot collabs coming up for you guys!” she told us with the utmost enthusiasm “I got Iggy Azalea, Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, Andre 3000 appearing on the album and that’s just the beginning!”. Angel Haze also has her next single coming out next month, “Bad Bxtch,” Featuring TIP; her Album is then due for release early next year and then she will set off on her tour all around Europe and then she’ll bless the United States with her presence. Then she makes an apperence in the 2013 BET Hip Hop Cypher along with Joey Bada$$, Childish Gambino, Mac Miller and Mystikal. “hard work pays off” more serious words from Angel Haze, a force to be reckoned with, she is the epitome of hard, laborious work just goes to show what the end produect is if you “stay on your grind and If that that isn’t hard work, then what is?

I am changing the colour of the puff to white and then I have changed the outline to white so that it will be easier to read.
