Coopro Naranjo History
Around 1960, a group of coffee farmer, decided to create a small entity, “The Cooperativa de Productores de Café y Servicios Múltiples de NaranjoR.L” (Naranjo Coffee Growers' and Multiple Services Cooperative, LLC), in order to process their coffee production. After this first experience, in October, 22th, 1966 was established the Agriculture Commission, with support from the Agriculture Ministry's local extension office, headed by Agronomist Claudio Rodríguez Matamoros and his assistant Olman Ramírez Corrales. The first assembly was held on January 7, 1967, with 80 coffee growers. The first coffee mill was purchased on January 17, 1968 at a value of 800,000 colons. The Cooperative was founded by 98 members, who contributed with an initial working capital of 39,800 colons.
The Cooperative was legally registered with the Ministry of Labor and Social Security on April 23, 1968. At the end of the first year, 10,000 fanegas had been processed and the Cooperative's capital stock rose to 628,000 colons, the value of fixed assets rose to 800,000 colons, and sales of farm supplies for the first year exceeded 200,000 colons.

Environment
► Protected forest farm: In the farm “ La Hacienda Cooperative Espiritu Santo Coffee” has 70 hectares of protected forest.
► Legislation and regulations concerning quality, environmental protection, occupational safety, and other aspects covered under Coopronaranjo's Quality and Environmental Management System.
► Maintain constant communication and awareness education with workers, suppliers, and subcontractors with respect to the importance of quality and environmental protection.
► Make a significant and permanent effort, using the means available to CooproNaranjo R.L., to involve, educate, and raise the awareness of the Cooperative's members.
► Constantly strive to improve and optimize its production processes, while efficiently using the resources and treating the waste products involved in coffee processes, such as water, energy, and organic waste, thereby ensuring high productivity, high quality, and pollution prevention.
► Vermicompost: Coopronaranjo R.L. encourages its members and the farming community in general to observe more sustainable production methods. Such as the use of agrochemicals is minimized, native species are used for shade trees, and production is focused on protecting and improving water and soil.
► Recycle used water.
► Used of mechanics for de-pulpler without used of water.

Starbuck C.A.F.E Practices CooproNaranjo R.L has the certificate Starbuck CAFE Practises for 3 years but Starbuck is one his client for 5 years.
2004: 1st year Long term Contract with Starbuck which checked the Cooperative CooproNaranjo R.L.
2005: 2nd year: Starbuck Café Practices declared CooproNaranjo R.L favorite customer.
2006: 3rd year: Starbuck Café Practices declared CooproNarnajo R.L strategic customer
UTZ Kapeh CooproNaranjo R.L processes UTZ Kapeh certified coffee since 2001.
Organic ECO- LogicaCooproNaranjo R.L produces organic coffee since 2003.
RainForest AllianceCooproNaranjo R.L has Rainforest Alliance certificate since this current year 2007.
