BASIC TEST PARAMETERS
• Two Identical Locations With Identical Cooling Towers and Tower Loads Were Chosen. The Sites Had a Documented
History of Algae Problems and are in the Cooling Tower Capital of the World: Miami,
Florida. • First the Towers Were Cleaned by the HVAC
Service Company. The Towers at Site 1 Were Run Without Balls. The Towers at Site
2 Were Run With Balls. The Balls Were Only Removed for Test Photos.
TEST SITE 1: Photos Taken on the Day Tower Cleaned in a Tower Without
Balls. NOTE: Sump is Clean. Dark Spots are
Stains.
120 Days in a Tower Without Balls. Algae and Slime in Middle of Sump is
Out of Control.
120 Days in a Tower Without Balls. Algae Continuing to Grow and is Over One Inch Thick in
Places.
TEST SITE 2: Photos Taken on the Day Tower Cleaned. Balls Then
Placed in Tower. Note: Sump is Clean, Dark Spots are Stains.
120 Days in a Tower With Balls. Sump is Algae Free, Only a Slight
Layer of Normal Sediment and Dirt.
Access Lid on Left is Without Balls. Access Lid on Right is With Balls. Ball Towers are Algae and Slime
Free. SUN BLOCKED = ALGAE
