Christmas is a busy time with the holiday season brining all kinds of necessary responsibilities to ensure you and your family has a memorable holiday period. From buying presents to decorating the house the fun is only matched by the stress it causes. But studies show the one thing that causes the most stress every year is the Christmas dinner. The idea of cooking recipes entire meal from scratch might seem daunting, but you don’t have to be Jamie Oliver to prepare delicious healthy meals. Whether you’re serving for just a few immediate family members or for a dozen relatives, these tips to preparing the most important ingredients of a Christmas dinner will help you make a delicious meal all your guests will love. The Turkey We live in a country that loves traditional cooking, so there’s really no better choice than to serve turkey recipes on Christmas day. Be sure to get yourself a decent sized bird to feed all your guests and to keep those delicious turkey sandwiches being well into the New Year. When preparing your turkey be sure to maintain enough room in the cooking oven for the air to circulate around the turkey so that it doesn’t burn. You can also keep your turkey moist and juicy by generously basting the bird with melted butter and then seasoning it. The most common way of cooking a turkey is to start by blasting it under an intense heat of 220 degrees C for around forty minutes before giving it a gentle two hour roasting at 170 degrees C. After this be sure to remove the tin foil from around the bird before turning the heat up high again for another half hour of cooking that will ensure the skin goes crisp. Another useful trick is to add a little water to the roasting tin before you begin cooking so that you have more meat juices soaking up from the turkey rather than find yourself with a pan full of unpleasant grease. Stuffing No turkey is complete without some much needed stuffing to give it an extra flavorsome taste. There are a number of stuffing kinds available that will complement your turkey perfectly. You can’t go wrong with a traditional stuffing like bread with herbs with its wonderful mixture of butter and seasonings, but if you fancy something a little different this Christmas, why not try a butternut squash stuffing which contains contrasting ingredients like smoky bacon and fresh sage mixed in with sugary butternut chunks so that you get both a sweet and savoury taste. Roast potatoes Anyone who prides themselves on their cooking likes to think they have the secret for making great roast potatoes, but if there’s one excellent recipe for cooking them it’s to add salted peelings to the pan while they are parboiling which will generate an additional tasty flavor that everyone will love.
