With a gentle click of the button, time seems to be frozen for a second and a beautiful

moment was captured. The simple process that I have just described is my hobby

photography. My first touch with photography was actually heavy influence by my

father. He was an avid photographer and like most fathers he will snap many

photographs documenting down key memorable moments that my younger brother

and I go through when we are growing up. But perhaps because of the high cost of

developing photos, digital photograph back then was not introduced in the market

yet; I often become the subject rather than the person behind the camera.

Fast forward a few years in the early 2000s, digital photography was gaining

popularity and a simple point and shoot digital camera was affordable. My father

bought me a simple Fujifilm point and shoot camera and that where I kick start my

journey as a photographer. During family trips to Malaysia or even a simple family

outing, I would often bring the Fujifilm camera along with me capturing different

moments. Reflecting back photography at that point of time was just like a fun thing

to do, I was able to capture and store memories.

When I was in secondary school, I became really serious about photography and

joined the photography club. As a member of the photography club, students are

given the chance to use expensive camera equipment such as the Digital Single

Lens Reflex (DSLR) as well as the opportunities to experience event photography

such as Chinese New Year, Teacher’s Day celebration and many others. Besides

just photographing school events, the teacher in-charge of the photography club also

motivated us to take part in nationwide photography competition and I was very

thankful that I manage to win one of such photography competition. Since then, I

have been reading more about the different technical aspect of photography and

purchased my very own NIKON DSLR.

Through my years of experience in photography, I came to realize that photography

is both an art and a science.

Explain what is Art , what is science.

Share that photography is not about snapping photography as and when you like.

One famous quote by Henri…… avoid snapping

It involved a series of process thought composing the photo, framing the photo and

waiting for the perfect moment as mention by Henri Cartier-Bersson “ ……”

Photography also allow me to contribute but to the community, As I stay in a

Residental college at Utown, together with some of the fren we establish a

photograph club at CAPT. We conduct weekly basic photography workship for

interested studeny and teach them basic knowledge.

At the end of the day, to me being able to capture the smile on people faces keep me

going and I will contine my passion for photography.
