GOES-R Launch Schedule
• LIFE CYCLE THROUGH PLANNED FY 2036
• GOES-R LAUNCH – November 4, 2016
• GOES-S LAUNCH – 2018
• GOES-T LAUNCH – 2019
• GOES-U LAUNCH – 2024
GOES-R Deployment
• Becomes GOES-16 once it reaches geostationary orbit• Placed in the 89.5 ° checkout orbit• Extended checkout and validation phase ~ 1 Year• Transition to operations immediately afterward.• GOES-R’s operational orbit has not been determined.• Final decision based on the health/safety/performance of
the GOES constellation. • NOAA’s Office of Satellite and Product Operations will
be responsible for determining the operational orbit for GOES-R.
