The First Day at High 1-BTommy and I have been friends for awhile now and it all started on that first day. Students walked into their respective classrooms and were introduced to one another. Aside from seeing Tommy, I also met a bunch of other crazy people who would end up becoming my new friends.

Little did we know that we would be going through an entire school year sharing experiences and feelings with one another. We would venture through our lives as freshmen while having a few laughs and chuckles along the way.

I am very thankful that I met the crazy cast of characters who are my classmates. I have grown quite fond of them and I will be sad to leave them at the end of this school year. Hopefully we can keep the bond of friendship that we already have throughout many years to come.

One of the things we went through together as a class was intramurals. We had different groups of people represent our class in five different sports: basketball, football, badminton, volleyball and table tennis. Every Thursday for 3 straight weeks we would go against other classes and fight for the victory to give our class something to boast about. I feel that the intrams made our

class very united. The representatives of the class would train daily for the upcoming games. The teams also built a sense of unity and teamwork within the players.

Thankfully, all the training we did payed off. We got first place in football intrams after a nerve-wracking penalty shootout, while getting second in basketball and volleyball. These victories gave our class, H1-B, the title of overall champions.

We journeyed together as a class to the prison of Bilibid.

We were very much looking forward to the field trip to Bilibid but none of us knew how much we would learn going to the prison. As soon as we saw the inmates a sense of nervousness struck us. But as the program progressed, we grew calmer and we conversed with one another.

We quickly realized that these inmates were merely people who have made mistakes in their lives. And yet they still remain hopeful. And when we left the prison, we realized an important lesson in life; that God is found in the places lacking of hope.

After BilibidWhen we left Bilibid, the

reactions of our classmates were not much different. All could agree that this is the most touching and important interaction we’ve had in Xavier so far.

The following day we had our recollection as a class

wherein we had different activities to help us reflect on our Bilibid experience. Through this experience our class bond became even stronger.

After a few weeks of long tests and examinations, several of our classmates received letters from their inmate buddies.

They wrote about how thankful they were for visiting them (some of the inmates didn’t have anyone to visit them) and said that just as we saw God in them, they also saw God in us.

I’m sure that this experience would not only serve to strengthen the bond between student and inmate, but would also have strengthened the friendship between the class.

Our class also had to face another challenge which was the school fair. Our class officers worked with us to plan out the best booth

ever. Using an ingenious game plan, several quality materials and our unity as a class, we were able to build a successful booth which

earned a whopping 38,000 pesos.

Now that our quarterly tests are

approaching and the year is ending,

is this goodbye for the class that is

H1-B?

I doubt that we will forget one another anytime soon. We have been through so much together. We went to prison (as visitors), won intrams, attended interactions, enjoyed soirées, and took quarterly tests together. In all honesty, I think when we are finally given our summer vacation I will miss this class very much. As the school year 2012-2013 unravelled, we forged a special bond with each other that will probably make us friends for lifetimes. I’m sure everyone will miss the class of champions that is High 1-B.

As for now, we have one last challenge to face. The quarterly tests loom around the corner and we are hoping to end the school year with one last hoorah. We will study as hard as we can for that final challenge. Hopefully we do this well so that we may make a good ending for the awesome school year with our crazy class: H1-B. Perhaps if we remain classmates, we can replicate our experiences and victories from this year.

So...is this goodbye?
