MULTIPLE PE-AL-PE LAYERS
VECTUS
A Vectus Composite Pipe is composed of five layers.
Vectus Composite Pipes consist of an Aluminium core with an inner and outer layer of
Polyethylene (PE). All the layers are permanently bonded together by intermediate
adhesive layers. The level of thickness of the aluminium layer in Vectus Composite Pipes
has been selected to meet compressive and flexural strength requirements.
This helps to combine the advantages of metal and plastic pipes and eliminate the
disadvantages of both materials at the same time. The aluminium core is absolutely
diffusion tight and reliably prevents oxygen or gases from permeating into the pipe. It
compensates and reduces snap-back forces and heat expansion with changes in
temperature.

Advantages of Vectus Composite Piping System
Advantages of
PE layers:
PE layers of composite pipe
provide all the benefits of a
plastic pipe which include:
Ÿ Corrosion & Scale resistance.
Ÿ Chemically inert.
Ÿ Smooth surface for better flow
rate.
Ÿ Non-toxic & rust free.
Ÿ UV resistant.
Ÿ Crack free
Advantages of
Adhesive layers:
Ÿ Perfectly bonds the metal and
plastic layers.
Ÿ Absorbs eventual shifting
movements between the
plastic and the metal layers;
likely to occur in opposite
directions. Also minimises the
contraction and expansion of
the pipe.
Ÿ Gives the Composite pipe
advantages of a single
component pipe.
Advantages of
Aluminium core:
Ÿ Acts as a permeation barrier
against entry of contaminants.
Ÿ Limits oxygen permeability to
an absolute zero.
Ÿ Provides mechanical resistance
to deformation.
Ÿ Restricts expansion and
contraction which could occur
due to change in temperature.
Ÿ Vectus Composite Pipes are manufactured in the state of the art manufacturing facilities incorporating modern
German technology and know how conforming to global standards.
Ÿ The fittings are mainly compression fittings, made of polymer and brass, which are user friendly as the joints are
tightened to the pipe by inserting them in. They don't require any glue or solvents, brazing, welding or heat fusions
for jointing which result in loss of properties during prolonged usage thereby inducing leakages.
Ÿ The Vectus Piping System can be installed in walls and ceilings or mounted surface.
Ÿ The pipes have a high level of ductility and flexibility, which means they can be easily bent by hand to form curves
and permanently hold whatever shape they are formed into, without getting strained. One doesn't need any
additional clips or brackets to retain the shape of bends or curves. However, these pipes only require bending
springs to form tight bends down to the radius equivalent to 5 times the diameter of the pipe.
Ÿ Also, since these pipes are bendable, a very less number of fittings are required for jointing which makes the piping
system leakage proof.
Ÿ Due to the smooth internal bore, the Vectus Composite Pipes have a higher flow rate as compared to other plastic
pipes of equivalent diameter.

Vectus Black Composite Pipes
As per IS 15450:2004
Vectus Black Composite Pipes are manufactured as per IS15450:2004. The piping system is well supported
by Compression Composite Fittings which don't require any glue or solvent during installation.
The working temperature of a Black Composite
Pipe ranges from -40°C to 95°C, which increases
its level of endurance over any other plastic
piping system. Although, it can withstand
water at a very low temperature due to its frost
resistance characteristic, insulation is still
recommended.
Also, due to low thermal conductivity it can
be used for hot water operations needing a
temperature up to 95° C. The middle layer
of aluminium which restricts particles from
entering into the pipe and the outer UV
protective PE layer - made of black carbon,
makes it suitable for outdoor operations.
Black Composite Pipe
Our Product Range
Hot and Cold Water Distribution:The inner layer of Vectus Composite Pipe is made out of High
Density Polyethylene which minimises the accumulation and
corrosion leading to more flow of liquid compared to metal
piping system. And the aluminium layer can handle both hot &
cold temperature water. Hence, the combination of plastic and
metal makes Vectus Composite Piping System, a highly reliable
system to be used in all common hot and cold water
installations.
Electric Wire & Optical Fibre Conduit:The outer and inner PE layer is also useful for electric wires as
well as optical fibres conduit. Also, aluminium being the core of
the pipe makes it suitable to cover telephone lines and data
transmission cables.
Solar Water Heating System, Air Conditioning
and Refrigeration System:A Composite pipe has a low thermal conductivity and frost
resistance, which makes it ideal for air conditioning,
refrigeration system, solar heating water system, central
heating system. Vectus Composite Pipes can be installed
having a length of 50 to 200 meters without any fittings which
makes the entire system leak proof.
Medical, Food and Chemical Industry:The inner and outer layers of Vectus Composite Pipes are made
of special PE, which is highly chemical, corrosion and
contamination resistant. The aluminium core minimizes the
leakage to absolute zero. The static-free PE layers can also
withstand all kinds of acid and alkali solution (in density)
below 60°C, which enables the pipe to be used in the chemical
industry with no extra protection.
Gas and Air Distribution:The aluminium layer allows Vectus Composite Pipes to
withstand high working pressure and prevent oxygen and gases
from permeating into the pipe. They are easily bent, which
makes the use of numerous fittings unnecessary. Vectus
Composite Pipes are a safe and reliable choice for compressed
air, gas and oxygen supply.
Applications

a strict adherence to quality standards.
Vectus Yellow Composite pipes are manufactured as per ASTM F - 1282. They are specifically designed and
manufactured for oxygen and gas supply and pneumatic system. The working temperature of Yellow composite
pipes ranges from - 40 °C to 50 °C.
YELLOW is the standard colour used for pipes meant for gas transmission and compressed air; gases
namely LPG, CNG, PNG & oxygen supplies. A different colour code helps one easily identify the pipes
carrying components that could be hazardous to one's life.

Gas and Air Distribution: The aluminium layer allows Vectus Composite
Pipes to withstand high working pressure and prevent oxygen and gases
from permeating into the pipe. It is easy to bend, which minimizes the
number of fittings required. Yellow composite pipes are safe and reliable
choice for compressed air, gas and oxygen supply.
For pneumatic systems in specific, we recommend to use brass fittings
for longer life and air tight joints. Vectus manufactured composite pipes
and fittings are designed to withstand 1.5 times the rated pressure,
which makes them reliable for any kind of pneumatic system.

Features InstallationInstalling the Vectus Composite Piping system in
pneumatic and noble gas system is not only very easy
but cost effective as well, as it doesn't require any
involvement of heavy machines or highly skilled labor.
Hence making the overall cost even much lesser than
any other system.
1. Cut the composite pipe at right angled into length
with Ratchet pipe cutter.
2. Insert the compression nut and split ring into the
pipe.
3. Rounding of the pipe is required with the help of a
calibrating tool.
4. The smooth edge should now being chamfered, so
that it can be fitted inside the fitting
5. Tighten the external compression nut, which will
ensure that it remains air tight and doesn't fail at
designed pressure.
In addition, Vectus Composite Piping system gives
great flexibility when it comes to the installation. It
can be maneuvered easily as per the requirement even
after installation, hence, adding to the cost saving part
and increasing the productivity of the entire system.

with a stable characteristic. At normal temperature,
it does not dissolve in any solution and is resistant
against various kinds of acids, alkali & salts.
Hygienic Property: They are hygienic, rust free,
non-toxic & resist growth of micro-organisms. Thus,
these pipes prevent contamination of water. The
Vectus Composite Pipes have passed the test of NSF
61 (USA) policy & received the approval of TZW
Germany & WQC UK. As medical & oxygen supply
pipes, they are absolutely safe & the purity of the
media these pipes carry is maintained at all times.
Burning Resistance: The PE-AL-PE composite
structure gives the pipes a much better burning
resistance as compared to any other Polyethylene
pipes. In the test, the burning resistance of the
Vectus Composite Pipes reached grade BL & GB
8624 stipulations for wire & cable conduit plastic
materials.
Hydraulic Function: The roughness coefficient of
a Vectus Composite Pipe is 0.007. The inside wall is
very smooth, scale free & low flow resistance. This
makes the pipes ideal for carrying fluids. Due to the
hard but flexible composite structure, the lashing
pressure is quickly eliminated, thus no disturbing
sound occurs.
Installation: These pipes are bendable but never
spring back and do not deform under pressure. They
can be directly installed from 50 to 200 meters;
decrease the need for a lot of fittings and
attachments, are easy to install and save a lot of
installation time.
Coefficient of Heat Expansion: Vectus Composite
Pipes have a low coefficient of Heat Expansion of
25×10-6m/m-K. The low expansion coefficient is
due to the adhesive layer which eliminates the
differential expansion of plastic and metal.
Other Advantages: The core layer of aluminium
guarantees static resistance, lightness and gas &
oxygen tightness. It also prevents growth of micro-
organisms inside the pipe and ensures safety in
water and gas supply. Not effected by frost and its
high thermal preservation saves energy thus
enhancing the efficiency of the system.
