Regional Head of Legal Operations Organization Fit

Reports to Global Head of Legal Operations and is a member of the Americas leadership team Responsible for overseeing non-legal strategic and operational aspects of running the Americas regional Legal function as directed by, and in close coordination with the global Legal Operations group. Because of the need for this direction and close coordination, this position shall report on a dotted line to the global head of Legal Operations. Works closely and collaborates with senior leadership across all functions of the company Purpose of Position

The Americas Regional Head of Legal Operations is a critical senior leader who will bring leadership, knowledge and experience necessary to drive peak operational performance. This position will lead, oversee and manage all non-legal operational aspects of the Americas Legal group, including financial management and budgeting, information technology support coordination, contract management, outside counsel/vendor management, training on legal policies, departmental communications, project management support and general administrative support.

Essential Job Responsibilities

The Americas Head of Legal Operations will be responsible for the following under the direction and in close coordination with the Americas RGC and head of global Legal Operations:

General:

• Providing entrepreneurial and innovative thought leadership to the Americas RGC to deliver best in class support across the Americas Legal function and to develop and execute departmental initiatives to further enhance client service and delivery, enabling technologies, team development, as well as efficiencies of these functions in a coordinated approach

• Head of Legal Operations for Americas will report to Americas RGC and with dotted line to Global Legal Operations

Business Planning, Budget, Financial Controls:

• Work with the Americas RGC Leadership Team (LT) to oversee, develop and manage the Legal department's annual strategic plan and manage and facilitate plan development, communication, reporting and ongoing measurement against objectives

• Ensure Americas legal team is supported with technology to allow the most efficient and effective legal services and overall client satisfaction. Monitor efficient/effective use of technology, including identifying and evaluating emerging technology and make recommendations regarding tools and systems reflecting best practices/latest standards

• Provide end user technical and training support • Deliver reports/metrics from applications • Manage relationship with technology vendors (e.g. Ariba) to update and maintain

systems and tools working closely with regional and business stakeholders (e.g. Contracts & Outsourcing (C&O))

• Oversee legal technology operations (including e-billing, matter management)

Client Service & Delivery:

• Develop and maintain strong and effective working relationships and partnerships with other departments and other operational teams to align Legal resources to needs of clients, eliminating duplicative processes

• 7 or more years of experience in running an operations function for a law firm or legal department of a multi-national company

Executive Director, Legal Operations Description

Executive Director, Legal Operations will be responsible for collaborating with the General Counsel and senior Legal leadership to implement the Legal function’s strategy and lead change management. This role will drive the strategic planning and execution of key initiatives that increase operational efficiencies. This role reports directly to the General Counsel and oversees all operations related to the Legal function across the globe. This role provides leadership and program management to the Legal Department’s capability, operational and communications initiatives. Strategic Program 30%

Director of Legal Operations The Role:

Seeking an energetic, business-minded and self-motivated candidate with excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience in in-house legal and compliance department operations. Candidates must have excellent project management skills with experience managing both large and small projects. The Director of Legal Operations will manage key processes that are critical to the Legal and Corporate Compliance Departments including: the e-billing system; law firm billing procedures and practices; department measurement and benchmarking; and supporting the management of law firms and other service providers. This role will be responsible for helping to manage costs, while fostering a culture that values excellence, teamwork, respect and recognition. This role will be responsible for the strategy execution, implementation and ongoing cycles of improvement of key legal processes and enabling technologies.

This position will work across practice areas within the Legal and Corporate Compliance Department and other support functions to enable the efficient and effective delivery of legal and compliance services to our business and functional partners. The successful candidate will have strong management skills, and strong executive leadership skills with a proven track record of making an impact, developing and executing on strategies with superior results in both the short and long-term. The successful candidate will develop strong relationships with internal constituents, including finance, human resources, information technology and procurement.

This position manages a Legal and Compliance budget supporting a business of over $6 billion in revenue and over 20,000 employees located around the world.

This position reports directly to the EVP & General Counsel and is based in the company’s corporate headquarters. This position will serve as a member of the General Counsel’s Leadership Team and will work closely with the Deputy General Counsel & Corporate Secretary.

Key Accountabilities / Percent of Time:

Manage the global projection, budget and accrual process in partnership with global Legal and Corporate Compliance Department colleagues, law firm partners and finance colleagues. (See below, “Financial Management and Planning.”) 20%

Position Summary The incumbent is responsible for the day to day operations of the Legal Department, and reports to the General Counsel. Summary This is a newly created position within Ares’ Legal Department and will be responsible for assisting the day-to-day legal operations with a focus in Legal eBilling and matter management.

GCO Operations is charged with improving and maintaining the Legal Department's internal processes, systems and technology.
