General1. The Judges decision is final, and will notbe contested2 An image MAY NOT be entered as aPRINT and PROJECTED IMAGE in thesame competition3 An entry of 4 different images may beentered in both prints and projected imagesunless otherwise stated (for the exhibitionsee “EXHIBITION RULES”)4 Projected images may be submitted onCD/DVD,PEN DRIVE or by E­MAIL to therelevant competition secretary by or on theentry date5 Prints must bear on the back of the mount,in the top left hand corner, The TITLE ofthe print, SECTION (when relevant) andthe MEMBERS CLASS (ADVANCED orBEGINNER) and must be handed to therelevant competition secretary by or on theentry night

6 The authors name MUST NOT appear onany entry, but MUST appear on any entryform and all packaging7 All entries must be the sole work of theentrant (other than processing), and mustown the copyright8 The committee reserve the right to retainany competing entry for use incompetitions such as L&CPU, ICPA andother events designated by the club9 The committee will take the upmost care ofall entries, but will not be liable for any lossor damage incurred10 All print entries MUST BE mounted onboard (see individual CompetitionGuidelines for mount size)11 All mounts must be free of Velcro andadhesive tape or any such item liable todamage other prints whilst in the transitboxes12 Projected Images will be 1024×768 with amaximum file size of 2Mb and in J­PEG

format. If images are less than thespecified size, the extra space may befilled with any design or colour of theentrants choice, but at least filled withblack13 An Image may be used only 3 times in theperiod immediately PRECEDING theexhibition, and ONCE in the exhibition,after this the image is deemed to be dead,but may be retained by the club ( SeeRULE 8 )14 All winning images will be awardedPhotographer of the year (P.O.T.Y.) points,(excludes the ELIMINATION CONTEST)15 Failure to comply with the rules couldresult in the image being refused entry tothe competition

Quarterly Competitions1 Of the 4 Quarterly competitions in the clubyear (Jan­Dec), 2 will be an “Open” subjectand 2 will be “Themed”2 An entry will consist of up to 4 Prints and/or4 Projected Images3 Prints may be any size on a mount nolarger than 50×40 Cms4 Projected Images will be the normal1024×768 in J­peg format with a maximumfile size of 2Mb5 All entries must state a) Title b) Class(Advanced or Beginner) but not the entrantsname6 All packaging must be clearly marked withthe Author’s name, and will be returnedafter the judging

Club ActivitiesCompetition1 This competition is open to both Prints andProjected Images2 Images must have been taken during thecourse of the current club year (Jan­Dec)3 Entries will include any image taken onany club activity e.g portrait nights /summer outing or any club event duringthat year4 Prints may be any size on a mount nolarger than 50×40 Cms5 Projected Images size 1024×768 in J­pegformat with maximum file size 2Mb6 All entries must state Title and Class, butnot the entrants name7 All packaging must clearly state theAuthor’s name, and will be returned afterjudging

3 on a ThemeCompetition1 This competition is open to both Prints andProjected Images2 Entrants must supply 3 separate images,each depicting an aspect of their chosentheme3 Entrants may submit up to 2 separatethemes4 Prints must be presented on 3 separatemounts which should be marked on theback with the Theme title, the Print title,Class (Advanced / Beginner) and viewingorder Image 1 – Image 2­ Image 3, (as thejudge may wish to view them as a panel)5 Interpretation of the Theme is left to thejudge6 Prints can be any size on a mount up tothe maximum 50×40 Cms

7 Projected Images will be the usual1024×768 in J­peg format, maximum filesize 2Mb

President's PrizeCompetition1 This competition is in 2 sections, the 1st is“Open” and not restricted in content, the2nd is “Themed” and will be chosen by thePresident.2 Entry is confined to 2 images in eachsection3 The competition is open to both Prints andProjected Images4 Prints may be any size on a mount nolarger than 50×40 Cms5 Prints must state on the back of the mount,the Title, Section (Open/Theme) and Class(Advanced/Beginner)6 Projected Images will be 1024×768 in J­peg format with a file size of 2Mb7 Images will be scored out of 10, resultingin a possible score of 40. The entrant withthe highest score will be declared thewinner, in the event of a tie, the highest

scoring image from the tying entrants willwin the prize, should it still be a tie, thenthe judge will chose from those highestscoring images

The Elimination Contest1 This is a fun contest and is not eligible forP.O.Y. points2 The contest is open to both Prints andProjected Images but judged separately3 Prints may be of any size on a mount nolarger than 50×40 Cms There is norestriction as to when the Image was taken4 Projected images will be the usual1024×768 in J­peg format with a max. 2Mbfile size5 Any image used in a previous EliminationContest is not allowed and will bedisqualified6 The entrant will require a bank of 8 images(If entering both prints and P.I you willrequire 8 for each)7 In Round1, the entrant will submit 1 image,the judge will comment on the images and

then eliminate 1 (or more if there is an highentry)8 The unfortunate entrant will take no furtherpart in that section of the competition9 In Round 2 the judge will eliminate anotherworker, and so on until there are only 2workers left, he will then select the winnerfrom the final 2 images

Photographer of the Year1 There are 2 sections Advanced andBeginners2 Points will be allocated to successfulentrants who obtain either 1st­2nd or 3rdplace in any competition throughout theclub year (Jan­Dec) including the Exhibition, but excluding the “Elimination Contest”3 3 points will be awarded to 1st place, 2points for second place and 1 point for 3rdplace4 If a club member judges any competitionhe will be awarded 2 points (as he isunable to make an entry)3 Points are added together throughout theyear and the “Running Totals” will bedisplayed on the notice board after eachcompetition4 The Beginner and Advanced worker withthe most points at the end of the year willbe presented with the appropriate trophies.

If there is a tie at the end of the year, thetrophy will be shared jointly

Winsor & Rosenberg CupsThis is a “Pre­ Exhibition” competition forPrints onlyThe Winsor cup being for Advancedworkers and the Rosenberg cup being forBeginnersThe competition will be “Themed” forAdvanced workers and “Open” forBeginnersWinning prints will be exhibited in theexhibition

1 Title, and Class (Advanced/Beginner) andSection (Theme or Open) must be clearlymarked on the reverse of the mount, butmust not bear the author’s name2 Mounts must be free of all Velcro, adhesivetape or any other item which may result indamage to other prints whilst in the transitbox3 All packaging must bear the author’s name,and will be returned after the exhibition

The Exhibition1 All sections are open to both Prints andProjected Images2 All images must be handed in on or beforeEntry night, with the relevant entry form3 Entrants may submit a total of 10 Printsand 10 Projected Images, they may enter 4images in 1 section of their choosing, and amaximum of 2 in any other section4 Prints may be any size, on a 50x40cmsmount (for exhibition display purposes)5 Prints must clearly state on the reverse ofthe mount in the top left hand corner a) Titleof print b)Section entered (e.g“Landscape”) and c) Class(Advanced/Beginner). The author’s nameMUST NOT appear6 All mounts must be free of any Velcro oradhesive tape or any other item liable tocause damage to other prints whilst in thetransit box

14 All Print entries selected by the selectioncommittee, will be returned with a gold staraffixed to the back of the mount. This willindicate that the print has been retained bythe club and can be called upon whenrequired. A full list of retained images bothprints and projected images will be placedon the notice board after selection15 Entry into the exhibition impliesacceptance of the rules

Exhibition IndividualSection GuidelinesOpen ColourThe emphasis in this section will be on strongpictorial content (i.e. lighting and composition),whilst it is an open subject, images such asNature, Portraiture, Architecture and Record etc.would probably be more suited to be entered intheir appropriate sections. Items such asCultivated Flora, Table top and Zoology would besuitable for this section.Portrait/Figure StudyThis section will accommodate any Portrait takenby “Available light” or by use of “Studio lighting”(photofloods­flash etc.) Figure studies can be offull or part persons and of everyday peopleportrayed in their own environment.

MonochromeThis section will contain any image using theMonochrome medium (Black and White) or asingly Toned image (such as Sepia). Emphasiswill be on content, lighting , composition andoverall sharpnessLandscapeThe use of Pictorial lighting and composition is ofthe upmost importance in this subject, thissection will also accommodate Seascapes, andCityscapes,Natural HistorySubjects in this section should illustrate allaspects of Nature, which includes Wildlife (Birds­Animals­Insects etc.) being free and unrestrainedin their natural environment, and of Geologicalsubjects (Plants, Rock formations, Lichen andMosses etc.) but not Domesticated Animals orCultivated Flora

Architectural/RecordThis section will be strongly dependant on“Technical Quality” as to illustrate detail in thesubject. Therefore sharpness is of moreimportance than any pictorial aspect. Theinclusion of people should only be used to give asense of scale to the subjectCreativeThis section is devoted to the imagination of theauthor to create an image using anymanipulative technique such as Solarization,Posterisation, Creative filters, Montage or anyother creative sourcePhoto­Journalism/TravelThis section will include images of adocumentary nature, such as Sport, localevents, humour and news stories. Photo­travelshould either illustrate Culture, People, andTerrain of a land they live in, such as would befound in magazines or travel brochures
