What is Competency

• Competency is the ability of an individual to perform a job properly.

• “a combination of knowledge, skills and behavior”

• Regardless of training, competency sould grow through experience.

• The Well Site Supervisor• “Independent” use be known as the operators

representative or consultant• Many hired through “agencies or engineering firms”• Early 20s to late 60s• Mostly men – some women• Large range of experience with equipment,

locations and type of work

DSFG Sharing Requirements

• Open to all industry members• No fee for usage by well site supervisors• Voluntary• Not a certification program• Built by industry for industry• Tool to help WSS develop their skills,

knowledge and abilities

Specific Efforts in 2011

• DSFG• Subcommittee revamped the Penn West document to add

technical components (Penn West initiated and contributed to the subcommittee).

• CAPP/CAODC “a new approach”• CAPP/CAODC/Enform were exploring the idea of a Pilot Project

regarding Site Supervisor Competency (Penn West suggested using the DSFG Material to be the potential project).

• Enform• Looking to put together a Competency Framework to support

Assessor Training being developed (Penn West suggested using the DSFG Material as the tool for the Training and to incorporate the Penn West Workflow into an intranet based process).

Proposal to “web-ify”

• Supporting the development of a Self Serve Internet Based Data Sharing Service Pilot Project (CAPP/CAODC/ENFORM)• Link Agencies and Supervisor candidates to Producers,

(Linkedin for Well Site Supervisors).• DSFG Competency Assessment tool acting as a

foundation for knowlege library that generates “Profile” questions (supplement and simplify the Interview).
