Karen Reports 9th April 2011 The Skirrid Inn

The Skirrid Inn, didn't fail to deliver the goods on 9th April.

The evening started off with a lovely Fish & Chip supper where the guests got to know one an-

other; then whilst we was upstairs on the Medium walk around with the lovely Barrie John we

had lots of K2 activity, guests hearing deep breaths, the odd grunt and tapping.

Two female guests sat in bedroom 2 calling out and they said that they were getting some good

responses using the K2 meter, at one time they heard the bed creak. Then we went down into

the bar area where we heard the sound of what can only be described as a chair being dragged

across the floor; this we heard twice.

The guests were then divided into 2 groups, one went upstairs

and the other remained in the bar.

The group who were doing the Ouija board in the bar were get-

ting some great information and as it said goodbye the door

leading from the bar to upstairs opened and closed by itself.

I saw this myself and was extremely happy when Jason

Beauchemin told me he'd seen it as well. We both ran to the

door to see if anyone had gone through it to go upstairs or to the toilet but there was no one

there. As we got to the door we heard another team member shout down asking if anyone had

gone upstairs as they were hearing footsteps along the landing; an-

other guest named Penny said she heard the door open and close

as well.

Two team members were then sent off to bedroom 2 as suggested through the Ouija board and whilst they were in there they both saw light anomalies in the same place at the same time, this happened about 2-3 times. On the whole I would say it was yet again another great evening with plenty of activity, which left the guests happy to go home with and I look forward to going back there.

Karen Reports 16th April 2011 Armley Mills

The Compass team and medium Graeme Fryer were at Armley Mills in Leeds on 16th

April and they were joined by a lovely group of guests; some of them were Deaf or hard

of hearing, but this didn't stop them from enjoying a night of activity.

On the medium walk around one young lady felt there was someone behind her and

when she looked she thought she saw a man standing in the corner behind

her, she then realised she was the last person in the group, she then suggested that it may have

been a dummy, but when she checked again there was nothing or no-one standing there. One of

our deaf guests using the Night Vision Goggles informed us through her signer that she saw a light

anomaly go from large to small then disappear across the screen. K2 meters were going off and

footsteps and shuffling was heard as though we were being followed.

The guest were then split into 2 groups and whilst we were in the Weavers Cottage we had table tipping and

responses using glass divination. We then did a human pendulum in the hallway of the cottage whilst a group

of girls used the writing planchette and were getting some good responses.

During a break we had a look at what had been written/drawn using the planchette and was impressed to see

a drawing of what looked like a woman holding a baby.

We then went back to the Mill and one group went upstairs, where they made contact with

a spirit of a young girl called Annie who started playing with the marbles and at the same

time there was a loud knock on the table and one of the legs lifted off the floor, the table

was being watched by a member of staff and can confirm it wasn't kicked etc by the

guests, they also experienced cold drafts blowing across their hands.

Whilst this was happening the group downstairs made contact with the spirit of a nasty negative energy whom

we believe to be known as Thomas. There was great activity in this room too, the table was moving around on

one leg. We had a woman who was wearing the Night Vision Goggles and she saw a light anomaly by the

boxes when I went to check there was nothing there to cause a reflection she asked her husband to check and

he said he saw the same.

One young lady by the name of Jackie was wearing Hearing Enhancers and I witnessed her rip these off her

head and leave the room very upset and scared, when I asked what she had experienced she said she heard

a loud groan in her ear. I asked if one person from the group of deaf guests could put the goggles on and sit

where the previous lady was sitting and she also informed us that she could see a light anomaly in the same

place. When we left that room at the end of the night we checked the temperature gauge and it read an 11.1

degree drop.

At the end of the evening we spoke to Nina the guide for Armley Mills about the drawing and she said that it is

reported that a Lady in the cottage had lost her baby as it was stillborn.

Make from that what you wish, but on the whole all the guest had a great night and left very happy.

Karen Reports 23rd April 2011 Morecambe Winter Gardens

The beautiful Morecambe Winter Gardens was the location on 23rd April for the Compass Team and medium

Mike Tottey and with the guests eager to get started. We set off on the Medium walk around and as soon as

we started walking up the stairs the K2 meters were going off, guests informed us that they were feeling un-

easy and camera's were not working and this was all before we reached the first floor.

When we reached the top of the building (The Gods) there was a lot of uneasiness with

guests and Mike Tottey.

Steve a guest who was using the night vision goggles was startled to see an orb coming

towards him and at the same time Mike said he saw the spirit of a man come towards him

and pass through him, a young girl who was stood behind Mike had her K2 meter go off. A member of staff felt

like they had been poked in the shoulder twice and when they looked round there was no-one behind them.

Some glass divination work was done and the guests were getting results with this as well, we

also had some good work on the Ouija Board.

With the building so big and impressive the walk around took quite a while, but the time just flew.

After a break we all sat in a circle in what was once the stalls area and a few of the group hear a distinctive

groan/growl, we then asked for the spirits to choose someone to go off on there own by setting of their K2 me-

ter.

A K2 meter went off and so a victim was chosen and off he went to sit under the stage by himself, whilst he

was down there and we calling out for something to happen we heard noises coming from the stage area, he

informed us that plastic cups had fell down the stairs, he stated there was 3 cups, but the third noise the group

in the circle heard said it was definitely not a plastic cup, it was a thud sound.

Two girls went to sit in the box on the left hand side of the stage and as we were calling out we heard a loud

noise which sounded like a piece of wood being snapped, this was just before they screamed. After the last

very short break the guests were split into 2 groups and the boys went off to sit under the stage and the girls

and Mike Tottey went back up to the Ladies bar with the Ghost Box or as the team loving call it the Broken Ra-

dio.

Whilst we were sat there and was asking for responses the K2 meters went off and we got something through

the Ghost Box which was an alleged spirit by the name of Edward, this made a couple of the guests very un-

easy and Joanne asked if she could put her torch on her friend Racheal Heaton asked if her friend would be

OK and a female voice came through saying something like "need to leave" this unsettled the 2 ladies even

more, so myself and Mike took them outside of the room to calm them down, this was eventually achieved and

whilst we were stood there chatting about nothing in particular there was this almighty sound that sounded like

it was right behind us and I can only describe the noise as a chair being kicked across the wooden floor, this

made the two young ladies and myself jump and scream, they then asked to go downstairs to a lit area.

So yet another interesting investigation and I believe that the all the guest went away happy with some kind of

personal experience.

Compass Customers What they say ... Another great night with the fantastic people at Compass Paranormal. Last night we ventured to Morecambe Winter Gardens and even as soon as we entered it felt as if something was gazing down at us from the sea of seats on the levels above. During the medium walk around the atmosphere in the theatre was quite unwelcoming, and the medium with us on the night Mike Tottey obviously felt an oppressive presence and was even forced back out of a doorway due to feeling dizzy and ill. He then asked if I would walk through the doorway and I too became struck by diz-ziness and I was hit by a blast of warm, quite moist air, one that resembles a crowded bar. Of course this room was the old gentleman’s bar we were entering which made it all the more interesting. After a short break we formed a circle of chairs in the middle of the main floor where the stalls would have been. There were the occasional noise or tap heard but I particularly remember a growl that was heard to the left of the stage, as it frightened a few members of the group... However the most frightening personal experience for me was something that happened all night long and I didn't mention to anyone else at the time. For anyone who doesn't know me, when on investigations, I tend to be very active and get involved in everything that is going on during the night. However for the entire night all I wanted to do was be by myself and not get involved in anything anyone was doing. I found myself going sitting in a corner while a group was doing some form of activity and then being asked if I wanted to move on to another part of the building as we had been in that area long enough, it seemed almost as if I had lost consciousness during the session and come around again when interacted with, sometimes for 20 minutes and I wouldn't remember what had even happened for the time we had been in the room. And as I left the building and started walking down the front of the sea front at the end of the night, this feeling lifted off me and only then did I really realize what had been happening for a lot of the night. This isn't evidence that effected anyone else, but on a personal level possibly one of the most unnerving experiences I have had with Compass. But this is why we do this to try finding answers and experiencing these things first hand so once again thank you Compass for a fantastic evening! Benjamin Heaton (Guest)

Once again we had an amazing time on our latest ghost hunt. Morecambe Winter Gardens didn't fail to deliver, with our group experiencing their own personal phe-nomena. With Dave being chosen by the spirits to sit under the stage on his own and being bombarded with cups which he could not figure out where they were coming from, and made him think he'd had enough down there after a loud bang was heard from under the stage by everyone! Lucy and Louise went up to sit in one of the boxes to the left of the stage and whilst there, could hear shuffling and steps coming from behind them which then concluded with a very loud snapping noise heard again by the whole group, and resulting in Lucy screaming like a banshee!! lol! Myself ( now a skeptical believer!) had an interesting night, I don't normally get feelings of such, but whilst sat in the big circle, felt as though child like shadows where coming in through the main entrance and surrounding the group. The one thing I'm having trouble explaining is, whilst under the stage with all the guys and just chatting in the dark, my torch switched itself on. I then switch it off and it wouldn't switch back on till we left the basement. All in all a great night and a big thank you to compass and everyone who attended, hope to see you all

soon!!

Page 11: Compass Paranormal Events MAY 2011 Newsletter

So, my first event with Compass was at Morecambe Winter Gardens, a place I had been itching to visit since seeing it all on the TV & I have to say it did not disappoint!!! Upon arrival everything seemed fine, an old building in a state of repair - quite creepy in itself but I have to admit being 'on the fence' that I didn't expect any other. However, after donning the listening device and K2 meter I soon began to change my opinion. We went on our walk around, & it soon became apparent that we weren't too welcome. I feel pressure on my chest as we enter the mens bar/toilet area, which I found odd and I felt off-balance when in the dress circle sort of wobbly. In the Gods I heard whistling through the earphones, and so did my friend as we both looked at each other like ?? I then took part in the glass work which told us we were talking to a boy who had died here at the hands of his father. When us girls were in the mens room I did a ouija board and we also got two K2's going off when we said ask us to leave - also Mike were you pushed off that step?? We also noted what looked like a small childs hand print on some dust on the handrail (I had asked for a handprint in some sand when upstairs). After a break we gathered as a group in a circle and whilst holding the microphone to the middle I distinctly heard a low growling which I wasn't sure at first I'd heard until another member of the team, also with a listen-ing device, confirmed the noise. So we asked if we should send someone into the cellar on their own and to my amazement my husband Dave's meter went off!! Haha off you go Dave!!! Louise and I wanted to go into the boxes, so we took our equipment and began to ask out if to see if the K2 would go off but nothing much seemed to happen so we tried some more & after a short while we heard some steps toward the stairway which I was fine with until through my earphones came a loud snapping sound I can only describe as some-one snapping a pencil which resulted in me screaming rather loudly!!! We then asked if anyone else could be affected & the next thing we heard was Dave shouting to come out as he had paper cups coming at him haha. We also discovered a large bolt on the chair Louise had sat on which was NOT there before. As the group split up, Lou & I headed back to the box as we wanted to see if the bolt had moved (it hadn't) so we asked out again for any noises or similar. I soon began to wish we had not, as we heard a rustling that seemed to come from the next box to us. We headed in there and sat down, a few faint taps and tinkling sounds but then Louise thought she heard a footstep behind me which almost finished me off when I listened to our camcorder where you can hear the rustling, the footstep or whatever it was and another creaky footstep that we were earlier not sure if we had heard or not. At this point Gary joined us and confirmed it looked like the Xmas tree which was stored in the box had been moved away from the wall! We were then led into the attic for a last look round, where we felt cold breezes across our faces and even though Gary looked for a reason, we just couldn't find one... The experience was very very good, especially when we looked back at the pics I have lots of what seem to be orbs and in one a reflection of what resembles a face in a window at the side of Dave when he says nobody was stood next to him!?!
