OUR PHILOSOPHY:

The philosophy of the study is the architectural design based on the search of well-being and comfort of the user, respect for the environment, the preservation of existing assets, the use of local materials and constantly updating about the technological innovations and systems. She graduated on March 2010 in Building Engineer/Architecture at the University of Bologna with 110 of 110 points, cum laude, defending a Technical Architecture Thesis entitled “Design and construction of Social Housing in

Bologna in the experiences of the 60s and 70s. The redevelopment of the towers in the Pilastro district.” (mentors R. Gulli, A. Guidotti, G. Mochi). In July 2010 she obtained the license to practice in civil and environmental section registering to the Engineers Institute of Bologna. From September 2010 she is tutor for the Laboratory of Architecture and Architectural Composition III, at the Faculty of Engineering of Bologna, with G. Praderio, A. Erioli, A.Luccaroni, F. Fulvi. She worked for the academic year 2011-12 in the course of Technical Architecture in the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Parma, with F. Fulvi. When she was at University she received his training at the design studio RESEARCH AND DESIGN - Galassi, Mingozzi and Associates, specialized in Bioclimatic, working on lighting, acoustics, engineering and architectural design. On October 2008 she attended the Design Workshop about energy and natural light under the leadership of Mario Cucinella at the Saie Energy Fair in Bologna. She attended the basic course CasaClima and is currently specializing in acoustics.

complex of the Fascist period in Bolzano (mentor C.Visentin). In September 2012 she obtained the license to practice, registering in the Association of the Architects of Parma. From March 2012 she has begun a training course for designers held by ClimateHouse Agency, attending base and advanced courses. After graduating, she had an experience abroad as intern at Umberto Squarcia Designs Inc. in New York. During her studies she did a long apprenticeship in studio GAAU, collaborating on various projects. In the months of October and November 2009 she received her training at Oswald Zoeggeler Studio in Bolzano, participating in the competition “Entwicklungsgebiet EGD” for the city of Vienna.

DATES AND PLANNING: SAIE Selection Competition 2012 - Preliminary Proposal

The requalification project of the former Marchino Cement Factory has the intent to preserve the historical and archaeological memory of the complex applying appropriate standards of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. The project aims to convert and recover all volumes both public and private, with a new parking integrated into the mountains, partly covered with photovoltaic panels and climbing plants. In the eastern area the design includes a sports centre and a school. The project of mechanical systems will make the building self-sufficient in energy energy requirements, by producing electricity through wind and solar power plants.

DATES AND PLANNING: 2010 - Preliminary Proposal

The idea of the proposal is to create, near the ring road of Modena, a building closed towards the interior, but at the same time that is clearly visible and recognizable from the outside.

Like a toy box, the building hides inside spaces dedicated to entertainment including fun activities for children and adults, disco and restaurant.The glass corner and the cuts of the windows reveal the ballroom and activities giving great visibility to the ring road and establishing connections with the outside, especially due to the lifting from the ground of the building envelope and to the translucent covering that characterizes the facades.The building livens up at sunset, with light effects that filters from inside illuminating the translucent panels of the covering and projecting outside colors and shadows.

On the second floor, in addition to the space devoted to disco there is a large terrace covered by a flat amorphous silicon photovoltaic shelter, able to produce and accumulate during the day, the energy required for nighttime functioning.

The project is part of a system of paths as a place of experience, a place of passage staging, relationship, encounter, rest. The building reclines on the ground, is inserted between the trees and rocks, around them, makes them its own, to go down to look out over the lake to frame the landscape.The large window becomes a sort of natural picture that retrieves the elements of the landscape and makes building elements. This view discovers that the lake is already sought from the landing of the woods: it is already possible perceived the presence of water from afar. The patios dig the building, spanning trees integrating them into the project; the drawing spaces become domestic and reserved. The nature becomes the protagonist of the inner life. The natural elements, the trees, the rocks, the water suggest the configuration and morphology of the space as a result. The formal structure of the project could be reshaped in the face of scientific standing of the existing trees.

The Renovation of the former Friary in Miglionico has the intent to restore life to a disused building complex. This friary is an historical landmark and architectural heritage for the town and the neighboring municipalities. The design looks for new functions compatible with the architectural quality of the complex and make it a center of attraction for locals and tourists.

The metaphor behind the architectural design and stanging is the journey of a Pilgrim. He goes along a dangerous route, thorugh his difficulties, anxieties and fears. He meets many obstacles before reaching the desired destination. The tour into the traditional museum changes from two dimension to four. The time, the fouth dimension, becomes one with the other. It starts from Canterbury, the entrance, walking until Rome. The Visitor becomes the Pilgrim in the Francigena street. Composition of all the spaces are made usign multimedia and interactive technologies.

The project is a renovation and expansion with a new room above the exiting. The design includes as its main objective the increase of seats in the restaurant that now remains limited to the basement; this requirement could be fulfilled only through the connection of the two levels, now not connected. The base theme of the project was the placement of the stair and the type of that, making it less invasive and at the same time an important element visible from the outside.

The project of interior renovation was divided into several hypotheses with the aim of satisfying the needs of the client. It needs a new place for the appetizers: an overhang cocktail cabinet increasing its visibility from outside, cocktail/appetizers cabinet at the entrance to entice customers to enter. It was also used color to give dynamism to the bar ; it was also tried to optimize the space to increase the number of tables and chairs making more confortable waiting at thechechout.

The area where will be located the didactic-sports-recreation centre of Monasterolo del Castello is characterized by a very high environmental quality, because of its location on declivity down to the lake Endine and inside the lake park. The key elements of the project are the integration with the region and the continuous dialogue with the landscape. In this way they become a constant presence in students life and in life of all the people employed in the different structures.

The basic idea is to create a new public safe space for all categories of users.The project is a closed, cozy and safe place.The slogan used is “a square for all…the senses”; indeed the project is addressed to all categories of users: children, young couples, people with different disabilities, the senior citizen stimulating the “senses” of all. The design of the roof is inspired by the design of the industrial overhead crane, metaphorically evoking the manufacturing origin of the Village of Baganzola. It preserves the historical memory of the Salvarani factory.

Redevelopment of the area for market and parking use. The competition organized by the City of Olgiate Comasco offers the opportunity to intervene in an urban area with a high architectural value.In this context, we interpreted the theme proposed as a unique opportunity to reconsider the relations among different elements of urban quality of Olgiate Comasco, reintegrating them in a global design.

The project aims to find an alternative crossing of the railway line in the center of the town. We assumed a solution with partial burial of the railway, improving the quality of urban life and increasing the opportunities for development of the Town.

Redevelopment of the square in front of the station, of some railway buildings in disuse railway and of the building of the former Mechanical Art.The project aims to redevelop the area making it an attractive pole for the community and for tourists, with a focus on environmental sustainability and energy saving.The square of the station is covered with a photovoltaic roof which is able to store large quantities of free energy and to create a homogeneous and recognizable space in the urban context. New functions included in the project aim to transform the area into a livable, safe and organized space; there are a stop of the cycle-pedestrian route Eurovelo, an hire company of bicycles and electric cars, a space dedicated to young people, an exhibition space, a museum of mechanical art, etc.

The Riverfront redevelopment of Detroit originates from the idea of a “green contamination” that starting from Hart Plaza infiltrates throughout the city, bring back vegetation in empty urban spaces, on the facades, in the suburbs, and improves degraded public spaces and abandoned areas.The origin of the movement comes from the heart of the city, where it meets the water. The new green carpet lives and floods in the urban grid, a membran built by hybrid graphen solar cells produces clean energy. The water produced by hybrid solar cells will be transformed into hydrogen, ecological energy carrier, motor of a new mobility for sustainable industry. In the center of the site is located the open arena, sheltered and protected by the envelope. All round it are placed spaces for several activities. On the east side the green-renovated parking becomes public space for exhibition and laboratories for street art, the gate of the tunnel is screened by a filtering green cover and the church is hemmed in its own holy spaces. The waterfront maintains the length of the existing riverwalk, let a sheet of water come in, that is usable by the citizens: for water bathing, show, ice-skating, etc. On the west side a green hill wraps the H(E)art Plaza, Cobo Center and the UAW Ford Building with organic shapes. Towards the city a series of green tongues go across the main avenue, partially underground, and go into the urban texture propagating and improving the reciprocal accessibility.

The project involves the construction of a building intended for commercial use of about 2500 sqm and office buildings with a total area of 3000 sqm. The idea behind the architectural design, is to try to consume less land as possible in a site that is currently green, trying to take advantage by building height, the architectural offering the surrounding landscape. It is then “lifted” the ground, creating a green roof that reconstitutes the permeability lost because of built volumes.

The project is the installation of Photovoltaic Plant on the South-East Roof of the House located in via Manfiora 5 in Castell’Arquato. The existing fiber cement roof has been removed because it contained asbestos. A new roof was built, using a “sandwich” panel, insulated and finished glazed brown corrugated steel sheet. The cement was removed, respecting the rules imposed, by a specialist company with the authorization of the A.S.L. (Local Health Authority): the removed material was deposited in an authorized suitable storage area. A photovoltaic plant with power 6 kW was installed on the new roof.

REALIZATION OF EXECUTIVE DETAILS: Our Studio has the experience to carry out executive projects with construction details of various types from 2D CAD to three-dimensional rendering of the same.

EXECUTIVE PLANNING


LIGHTING ANALYSIS: Realistic simulations of lighting of the main living spaces by optimizing the use of natural light and reducing energy consumption. Search of visual comfort without glare or low light situations.

REGULATIONS: Through this analysis it is possible to combine visual health and compliance with the local regulations which requires to respect R.A.I. values (the ratio between the illuminating surface and/or the surface opening of the openings present in each local compared to the surface of the floor of the room itself) and FLDm (medium factor of daylight).

TIMETABLE: In few days you can make a complete analysis and a proposal to improve critical situations of brightness in compliance with regulations.

NATURAL LIGHT AND ENERGY SAVINGIn a low-energy building, the cost for lighting accounts for up to 20% of consumption. In schools, offices and commercial buildings, the electricity consumption for lighting can represent 25%/40% of total consumption. The buildings are drawn by light and they must be designed to optimize the entry of the light itself.Natural light should be the main or the only source of light required during the day.

DAYLIGHT - LUMINANCEThe illuminance represents the amount of energy incident on a surface and is measured in lux (lm / m²).- In workspaces it is measured at a height of the work plane (0.85m from the floor).- Inpassageways it is measured at a height of 0.20 m.

DAYLIGHT - LUMINANCEThe luminance represents the amount of light reflected or emitted from a surface... what the human eye perceives.- The distribution of the luminance in the visual field affects the visual comfort- Excessive luminance contrasts can cause glare- Low luminance contrasts can cause monotonous and not very stimulating roomsIn the design of a building is essential to check that the luminance contrast remains within the following ratio:- 3:1 between an object and its background (optimal)- 10:1 between an object and the far darkest surface (optimal)- 20:1 between the light sources and their surroundings (acceptable)

REGOLATIONS REFERENCESThe Decree of the M.S. DM 1975/07/05 provides that:“... The size of the windows must be proportioned to ensure a FLDm value of 2% (dwelling houses) and in any case the opening surface must not be less than 1/8 of the floor surface (RAI 1/8)...”

FLDmThe medium Factor of Daylight is the ratio expressed as a percentage of the average illuminance of the room (Em) and illuminance Ee that occurs in the same time on an external horizontal surface exposed to the entire vault of heaven with overcast sky.

The solar and thermal analysis is essential for the design, both during the analysis of the site and in the phase of architectural choices, and those of technological detail.The computer software used for this purpose is Autodesk Ecotect Analysis: a complete analysis tool for sustainable design, which can provide data useful to the designer in order to choose the architectural solution more comfortable for the user and more energy efficient.The potentiality of the software concern: the whole building energy analysis, with the computing of energy consumption and related CO2 emissions; thermal performance of the building, with the calculation of heating and cooling loads; solar radiation, with definition of sunlight incidence on all surfaces of the building, in all the periods of the year; the lighting with daylight, with calculation in any point of the model of daytime factors and levels of lighting; the shadows and the reflections, displaying the position and the path of the sun in relation to the model.

ENERGY PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATEIn Emilia Romagna from 1 July 2008 is required the energy certification of new buildings or buildings that are subject to complete renovations. The certification is mandatory also for the sale of the entire building. From 1 July 2009 the requirement for certification is extended to the sale of individual units, and from July 1 2010 also for the rental of the properties. The Energy Certification of buildings is a mandatory procedure that allows, through a standard calculation method, to classify a building according to its energy characteristics. REGOLATIONS REFERENCES:- European Directive 2002/91/CE- Dlgs 192/2005 - Dlgs 311/2006

The certification allows the user to make a more “aware” choice when buying/renting a property.However it is a certificate that does not attest the quality of the building, so a consultation with an expert professional is recommended. The energy performance certificate is valid for 10 years and it must be updated every time they occur interventions which alter the energy consumption. It’s the first step towards passive architecture characterized by reduced energy waste, increased use of renewable energy and sustainable materials, while respecting the environment.
