Tuesday, October 8 11:00 am -12:30 pm Using Social Media in Your Job Search: LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook Live Location: WJCS, 845 North Broadway, North White Plains Learn about the power of social media as it pertains to your job search. We'll navigate LIVE through LindedIn, Twitter and Facebook to show you how to use these social media sites as job search tools, in a practical no nonsense way. Find hidden jobs and learn why it's important to utilize these sites to help you maximize opportunities in your job search. Presenter: Anita Greenwald, Donor & Community Engagement at WJCS and Founding Coordinator of Connect to Care. Check out Anita's LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter profiles.

Wednesday, October 9 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm Ramp Up Your Resume Location: WJCS, 845 North Broadway, North White Plains Sorry to say... upon receiving a resume, employers will not call and offer you a job! They

might, however, invite you in for an INTERVIEW! That's your goal! Your resume opens the door. It is the carrot you dangle to get noticed and create initial interest in your candidacy! Make sure it is ready to impress and make you memorable! The process of reviewing and ramping up your resume will allow you to relive the projects you worked on, the group/s you managed and the accomplishments about which you are most proud. Many resumes are watered down versions of what they should/could be. Allow yourself the time and attention to indulge your history, to relish what you have done and to come out the other side with not only a strong resume as your marketing collateral, but an opportunity to have thought through your successes, and feel empowered to confidently discuss and demonstrate your talents! Presenter: Naomi Koller, FEGS, Career Counselor

Thursday, October 10 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm Make Yourself Memorable Location: WJCS, 845 North Broadway, North White Plains Learn how to maximize your impact to your network and potential employers. To stand out in this market, it is critical to be able to control the image you portray and the messages you send to others. Gather insights to effectively differentiate and communicate your unique message via e-mail and face to face interactions. Also consider the possible need to update your image for this market and learn how to go about doing that. Presenter: Julie Jansen has empowered thousands of professionals to find success, satisfaction and fulfillment at work. A dynamic, much-sought-after speaker, author, facilitator, trainer, coach, and business consultant to Fortune 500, privately held companies and nonprofits, Julie helps senior executives, managers, business owners, and professionals in all industries learn how to increase their effectiveness and jumpstart their careers. This is a pre-recorded video presentation.

Many stores now offer the option of having your receipt emailed to you, and this little step can add up to big savings for the planet. Switching to digital receipts in the U.S. alone could save more than 9.5 million trees and save 1.2 billion gallons of water used during the receipt-paper production process. So next time you’re asked if you’d like that receipt printed, say “No, thanks!”

ARTS and LEISURE

Final weeks! Elaine Reichek: A Postcolonial Kinderhood Revisited Closing October 20, 2013  “exceptionally savvy and elegant” – The New York Times  In 1993 the Jewish Museum commissioned Elaine Reichek to create an installation that explored her personal identity. Reimagining her childhood bedroom, Reichek displayed her first‐generation Jewish American parents’ efforts to assimilate in the American mainstream through colonial‐style furnishings. A Postcolonial Kinderhood, installed in 1994, probed the fears and embarrassments—real or imagined—that still prevailed among many American Jews and is one of the earliest major works to

confront the paradoxes of American Jewish identity. In this reinstallation the artist has added several components, including video and needlework. More >
