Telecommunication and signalling cables from PRAKAB are used in a wide range of applications andvarious environments and conditions, especially in rail and public transport, telecommunicationnetworks and industrial electronics for control, telecommunication and signalling systems.

PRAKAB is a certified supplier to a number of European railway operators like OEBB, ČD, ŽSR, SBB,TCDD, DB, AŽD etc.

For high quality transmission of information and signals, it is important to protect cables againstthe influence of external electromagnetic fields that can interfere with signals transmitted by thecables. Such interference may destroyed the transmitted information or may even lead toa transmission of faulty signals.

REDUCTION FACTORReduction factor (RF) is an important cable screening parameter that defines the ability of the cableto reduce the intensity of external electromagnetic fields. The reduction factor is tested according toDIN VDE 0472-507 – Testing of cables, wires and flexible cords – Reduction factor. This parameterdepends on interference frequency and screening impedance. It lies in the interval from 0 to 1.0,with 0 standing for total interference elimination and 1 standing for an unscreened cable.

Communication cables are divided into two main groups: indoor and outdoor cables.

Design

Indoor telecommunication cables• Copper core• Insulation (PE, PVC, halogen free polymer compound, silicone rubber)• Insulated conductors are twisted to basic elements (pairs or quads). A bundle of pairs or quads constitutes a cable core• Indoor covering (dielectric separation tape)• Screening (laminated aluminium foil)• Sheath (PVC, PE, halogen free polymer compound)

Outdoor telecommunication cables• Copper core• Insulation (PE foam skin, PE)• Insulated conductors are twisted to basic elements (pairs or quads). A bundle of pairs or quads constitutes a cable core• Cable core can be filled with water-blocking material• Indoor covering (dielectric separation tape)• Laminated sheath (double-sided laminated aluminium tape which is welded to the PE sheath)• Protective coating (aluminium wires, iron-zinc wires, iron tapes)• Outdoor protective coating (PE, PVC)

SIGNALLING CABLESGeneral use• Signal transmission between communication devices• Fixed cable installation of communication, control and signalling railway systems• Safety devices in road traffic (traffic lights, variable traffic signs, monitoring of traffic density)• Safety devices in railway traffic (traffic lights, traffic control, level crossings, information systems)• Underground railway devices (traffic control, information systems)

LFHC TELECOMMUNICATION AND SIGNALLINGCABLES WITH REACTION TO FIRE These cables are divided into two main groups: without functional integrityand with 30–90 minutes functional integrity.

Cables without functional integrity

General use• Transmission of analog and digital data• Fixed installation of indoor distribution system in communication technology• To protect people and valuable equipment in the event of fire• If it is required a release of a small amount of heat and smoke and no dripping of flaming

particles

Cables with functional integrity

General use• Transmission of analog and digital data• Fixed installation of indoor distribution system in communication technology• Can be used for variety of transmission systems including ADSL2+ and VDSL2• To protect people and valuable equipment in the event of fire • If it is required a release of a small amount of heat and smoke and no dripping of flaming

particles• Siutable for hotels, hospitals, underground railways, airport etc.• If functional integrity of entire cable installation must be maintained in the event of fire
