COMILLA

Comilla city under chittagong division with an area of 3085.17 sq km. Main rivers are Meghna, Gumti and Dakatia. Comilla (Town) stands on the bank of the Gumti river. It consists of 18 wards and 46 mahallas.  In the suburb there exists the Commonwealth War Cemetery Memorials, Muktajuddha Museum at Mainamati Cantonment and bangladesh academy for rural development, Mainamati Museum & so on.

Lalmai hills, Maynamati hillsThere are series of hills, where the Northern part is calledMoinamoti and the Southern part is called Lalmai; and Shalbon Vihara is in the Middle of Lalmai and Moinamoti, King Buddadev established these places in the 8th century.

BUDDIS BHIHAR

1. Eastablished in 8th century by king Buddhadev.

2. This site previously called salbon Razar-bari.

3. The large squre monastery of 550 ft sides with 115 monastic cell.

4. The hole area contains six building Kutila Mura, Rupbaan Mura, Itkhola Mura, Charandra Mura, Satera Ratna Mura & Bhoj Vihara.

WAR CEMETERY1.Second World War warrior's

graveyards are in this Cemetery.

2.who died d in world war from1939 to 1945 in Comilla areas.

3.over 400 soldiers from British, India, Japan, Myanmar, who laid down their lives on the Myanmar front during the World War II.

4.Every year a number of tourists come here to visit this Cemetery.

Moynamoti Museum• Moinamoti museum – where you will find the historical things found in Lalmai & Moinamoti of 7th & 8th centuries.

• The Mainamati site Museum has a rich and varied collection of copper plates, gold and silver coins and 86 bronze objects.

• Over 150 bronze statues have been recovered mostly from the monastic cells, bronze stupas, stone sculptures and hundreds of terracotta plaques.

Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD)Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development

(BARD) islocated at Kotbari. A large part of the campus is

orchardsvegetable farms, nurseries, parks and roads

lined withshady tropical trees. The Academy was

established in1959. The Academy is famous for its evolved

model“Comilla Approach to Rural Development” in

home andabroad; and received National Award in 1986

for itsremarkable contribution in Rural Development.

RANI KUTHIRani Kuthir is in Comilla town, Nazrul Institute

isbeside this and behind Rani Kutir there is a

Dighi, itIs called Dharma Sagar. Once This house wasallocated for Dr. Acther Hamid Khan, who was

mainplaner of Comilla BARD. Now it is used for art

andCulture activities.

Dharma Sagar DighiDharma Sagar is a well know big pond in

Bangladesh. It issituated in middle of Comilla city near Comilla

MohilaMohabidhalay and Rani Kutir. There is a park

beside thepond. The pond was dug by the Tripura’s King

DharmaManikya in (1714-1732). Before there was an

island at themiddle of the dighi. Every year there is a melanear Dhormo Sagor dighi and Nouka Baich in

PohelaBoishakh. 

Chandimura Temple•Chandimura mandir is one of the oldest Temple in Bangladesh.•It is at Lalmai Comilla.•This Mondir has been established in 7th century by Provabati Debi, wife of a Buddhist king Devkharag.•It has two Mandir, one is for Lord Shiva and another is for Godess Chandi.•It is also known as Chandi Mura Shebasram.

Jagannath Temple• Jagannath Temple is one of the oldest temple of Comilla district.• Jagannath Temple is a temple dedicated to the Hindu God Jagannath.•  This 400 years old temple was made by Sree Sreejoktou Moharaja Rada Kishor Manikuo Bahadur.•He was the king of Tripura. 

Comilla University•Comilla University is a public university located at Kotbari Comilla, Bangladesh.•The university was constructed on 50 acres (200,000 m2) of land at Lalmai Bihar, Moynamoti.•Professor Dr. Golam Mowlah is the founder Vice-Chancellor of Comilla University.• It started with 7 dept. but now it has 11 dept.

Comilla Medical CollegeComilla Medical College is a medical college located in Comilla, Bangladesh. It is a Government medical college and admits 100 students into the 5 year MBBS degree programme.It was established in 1992. Till August 2009,13 batches have completed their Bachelors degree. A number of students from abroad are also studying in this institution. It s a renowned medical college of Bangladesh.

Comilla Khade

It is one type of cloth. This cloth is so famous that it is also exported to foreign countries . some famous khadi products are :Lungi fatowa ,Bed sheet ,shirt ; gamsa panjabi e.t.c.

Rosh-MalaiComilla is famous for the "Rosh Malai" and "Matree Bhandar" is the best and oldest producer of the tastiest "Rash Malai". You'll find lots of outlet at different places at Comilla claiming themselves as dealer of "Matri Bhandar". But don't get fooled. Cause there is only one showroom of the “Matri Bhandar” and it’s located at Monohorpur ,kandirpar.
