U LT R A - H I G H - E F F I C I E N C YEnergence® Ultra-High-Effi ciency units can provide the energy savings and comfort control needed to maintain the ideal environments for learning.
Ultra-high-effi ciency
The effi ciency ratings achieved by Energence Ultra-High-Effi ciency units
exceed ASHRAE 90.1 2010 IEER minimum standards by as much as 96%.
Ultra-lightweight design
Energence Ultra-High-Effi ciency units are packed with intelligent features,
yet are up to 47% lighter* than many leading competitors’ units, reducing
concerns and potential costs involving a building’s structural integrity.
Ultra-quiet performance
The variable-speed compressor or Advanced Cooling System™,
DirectPlus™ blower system and ECM outdoor fans help reduce outdoor
sound levels to the lowest in the industry—as low as 73 dBA—making
Energence Ultra-High-Effi ciency units ideal for schools.
Studies have shown that the performance
of school children is impacted as much as
20% by the negative effects of a poor
indoor environment.

Reduced temperature swings
School buildings often need smaller tonnage units—but this doesn’t have
to mean less comfort. Energence Ultra-High-Effi ciency 3- to 6-ton units
are engineered to deliver ultra-precise heating and cooling. The
modulating, variable-speed compressor and indoor blower ramp up
or down to closely match the load in the classroom. This can reduce
or eliminate the temperature swings that can occur with single- or
two-stage systems. It also helps keep humidity levels in balance.
Greater humidity control
Properly designed schools utilize more outside air, which can
introduce additional humidity, causing discomfort in the classroom.
The modulation of Energence Ultra-High-Effi ciency units extends
the time that the unit is running, and maintains comfort. In addition,
these systems have an Increased Dehumidifi cation Mode (IDM),
which will modulate the compressor and reduce the speed of the
indoor fan to remove additional moisture from the classroom.
Enhanced heating comfort
Energence Ultra-High-Effi ciency 4- to 6-ton models have an optional
4 stages of gas heating, which adjust to match the classroom
temperature requirements. As the weather outside fl uctuates and
more or less heat is needed, the system will adjust to provide the
necessary warmth.
SINGLE-STAGE MOTOR: Since it’s either full speed or completely off, a single-stage motor creates continuous temperature cycling throughout the day.
MAXIMUM
MINIMUM
TWO-STAGE MOTOR: With the ability to operate at two different speeds, a two-stage motor creates temperatures that are more even and steady, with only mild temperature cycles throughout the day.
MAXIMUM
MINIMUM
VARIABLE-SPEED TECHNOLOGY: Variable capacity and a variable-speed motor let the system maintain consistent temperatures without temperature cycling, preserving your perfect temperature and your perfect environment throughout the day.

INDOOR AIR QUALITY
C R E AT I N G A B E T T E R E N V I R O N M E N T T H R O U G H I A QIt’s diffi cult to overestimate the impact of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ). According to the EPA, poor IAQ is among the top 5 environmental risks. Pollutants in a school’s air can cause dizziness and headaches, as well as aggravate allergies and asthma. Good IAQ carries numerous benefi ts. It can help improve the health and productivity of students, decrease absenteeism, and increase learning and student performance levels.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the annual energy bill to run
America’s primary and secondary schools is a staggering $6 billion—more than what
is spent on textbooks and computers combined. Approximately 40-60% of that cost can
be attributed to heating, cooling and ventilation.
