COMBINED PROBUS CLUB OF WEST PENNANT HILLS INC.
MINUTES OF MEMBER’S MEETING HELD ON 2ND February 2016
Attendance: 124 in Attendance
23 absent/excused

155 total members.
7 visitors (2 of whom were inducted).
Welcome: President Michael opened the meeting at 9.47 and welcomed members
Minutes: Minutes of the member’s meeting held on 5th January were accepted by the meeting.
No matters arising and no correspondence.
Treasurer: Treasurer Denise reported that figures indicate a balance of $12,800.92 for January,
2016. It was also moved/seconded and approved by the meeting that the annual membership fee
be maintained at $35.00 - Denise also tabled her financial statement – January 2016.
President Michael confirmed that the next meeting on 1st March will include the Annual General
Meeting at which time all positions, other than the President are declared vacant in accordance with
the Probus constitution. Nomination forms are available and must be handed to Secretary John or
Vice President Sandra at the close of this meeting.
Unfortunately we have received a resignation from Ron Ellis who was acting as the “trips away”
organiser. The Dubbo trip will be organised by Vice President Sandra.
A big thank you to Colleen and Eric for an enjoyable Australia Day sausage sizzle – well attended.
Also thanks to a former member Dennis who provided the entertainment.
President Michael then inducted two new members, George and Joy Kimpton.
Membership: Glenys advised that she had received eight resignations but the waiting list would
more than cover the places created.
Welfare: Margaret advised that Stan is back in hospital and Ron has been admitted with heart
problems.
Outings: Colleen was delighted with the attendance at the Australia Day sausage sizzle. The cost
was $304 which was paid by the Club.
The mid-week two day stay – ladies only at Solar Springs Retreat at Bundanoon is on 8th and 9th June.
The cost is $660 with a deposit of $110 to be paid at the next meeting.
Special Events: Dale reminded us of the Ambre Hammond function at Allegro and the Change over
will also be at Allegro.
Trips away: Sandra stated that the Dubbo trip would proceed, however the trip to Fiji was still
under consideration.
Sandra brought to our attention the details of Ron’s resignation and asked for more Club spirit.
Walkers – Dinner Club: Eric discussed the Dinner Club function to be held at the Bar La Me on
Wednesday 17th February and also the walk which will be Cabarita/Concord.
He also gave us a detailed horoscope of those born under the sign of Aquarius.
Guest Speaker: Margaret introduced Nicholas Cowdery ex DPP. Who gave us an insight into the
Law.
Next Meeting - Tuesday 1st March.
President Michael closed the meeting at 12.00and invited members to lunch at Pennant Hills Hotel.
