The source provides a look into the behaviors of Gang Members as characterized by Sociologist and Criminologist to provide a better understanding of gang behavior.

2. Gangs. (2010). In Current Issues: Macmillan Social Science Library. Detroit: Gale, 2010. Gale Opposing Viewpoints in Context. Retrieved January 13, 2011 from, Cengage Learning. This source provides an overview of gangs to include their composition as well as some basic facts. The source details the rise of gangs dating back in the United States as early as the late 1700’s. In this overview the source also covers various facets of gangs such as membership composition, community interaction, suppression and prevention, and positive contributions of gangs.

3. Malec, D. (2006). Transforming Latino Gang Violence in the United States. Peace Review, 18(1), 81-89. Retrieved January 13, 2011 from, EBSCOhost. This article addresses gang violence in the primarily Latino Community, the root causes behind this violence, and the reasons behind the increasing membership. This source will provide insight into the gangs within the Latino population of the United States.

4. Molidor, C.E. (1996). Female Gang Members: A Profile of Aggression and Victimization. Social Work, 41(3), 251. Retrieved January 14, 2011 from, EBSCOhost. This article provides insight into the world of female gang members. Mostly, information about gangs and their activities is centered on male gang members. This source offers a look into gangs from the perspective of the females within the ranks of these organizations. These female gang members explain what has led them to join, the various types of initiations, their education backgrounds, family histories, neighborhood surroundings, and the daily pressures of gang life for a female.

5. Seave, P.L. (2007, October 2) Research, P., & Texas State, U. (n.d). Gang Crime Prevention. FDCH Congressional Testimony, Retrieved January 14, 2011 from EBSCOhost. This source is a testimony given that provides an example of a policy lawmakers have in place to combat against the growing gang presence within the communities across the United States. The testimony also identifies the roles of the federal government to support local and state agencies in their effort to prosecute more serious gang activities.

Retrieved January 13, 2011 from, http://gangsorus.com/research.html This website is authored by a court qualified expert on Security Threat Groups and street gangs, who has over 50 years of experience in law enforcement. This site contains links on gang training classes, gangs in the workplace, gang definition, gang identifiers, street gang information, prison gangs, gangs in the military, gang slang, parent/teacher information, links to (books, manuals, and videos), and more. The use of this resource will enable me to combine other sources to provide greater understanding and insight into gangs and their activities.

Part II:

In converting my annotated bibliography to an APA- formatted reference page, I will first remove all annotations from reference list. Next, I will verify all list sources are alphabetized, in order, correctly punctuated, and properly formatted. Finally, I will refer to the Axia APA Reference and Citation Samples to ensure all material receives proper citation.
